Grand Prize Winners in All-American's recent "Golden Windfall of Prizes" contest, Mr. and Mrs. Will D. Ball Jr. of Westminster departed for Europe last Friday night. The Balls were photographed ready to step aboard one of S.A.S. (Scandinavian Air System) giant D.C.-6B airliners last Friday night at Los Angeles International Airport.
From Los Angeles the Balls were flown to Winnipeg, Canada—then another stop in Greenland before arriving in Canberra.

WONDERFUL LAYER CAKE
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups dessert sugar
4 eggs, separated
3 cups cake flour, sifted
4 taps, baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
% tsp. almond or lemon extract
Cream butter; add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, and beat thoroughly after addition of each. Sift flour, measure, sift again with baking powder. Mix vanilla and almond extract with milk. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beating gently after each addition. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Spread batter in three 9" round layer pans and bake 30 mins. in moderate oven (350). You may halve the

Cover corned beef with cold water. Cover tightly and simmer gently for 3 to 4 hours or until tender. Add more water, if necessary, to keep corned beef covered. When done remove and drain. Spread top surface with brown sugar and dry mustard. Stud with cloves and place in moderately hot oven (400°F.) for 15 minutes.
