B3 - Anaheim Gazette Anaheim, Calif., Thurs., May 10, 1956 BARRECUED LAMB RIBLETS 3 pounds lamb riblets salt pepper Brown lamb riblets in own fat or small amount of lard or drippings. Cover with barbecue sauce and cook slowly on top of range or in a slow oven (300 degrees F.) for 1½ hours or until tender. BARBECUE SAUCE 1 medium onion 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons vinegar 2 tablespoons brown sugar ¼ cup lemon juice 1 cup catchup 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 cup water 1 teaspoon salt few grains red pepper Brown onion in butter and add remaining ingredients; mix thoroughly. Pour sauce over riblets and cook as described above. BUTTER CREAM FROSTING 4 cups powdered sugar 6 tbsps. soft butter or margarine 1 egg white, unbeaten Dash of salt 2 or 3 tbsps. cream 1 can coconut or 1 fresh coconut, grated Sift sugar; add about ½ of it to the soft or melted butter and cream well. Beat in egg white, vanilla and salt. Gradually add rest of the sugar alternately with the cream. Beat hard. Spread be- 6 tbsps. soft butter or margarine 1 egg white, unbeaten Dash of salt 2 or 3 tbsps. cream 1 can coconut or 1 fresh coconut, grated Sift sugar; add about ½ of it to the soft or melted butter and cream well. Beat in egg white, vanilla and salt. Gradually add rest of the sugar alternately with the cream. Beat hard. Spread between layers and on top, and sides of 9" cake. Sprinkle fine-grated or chopped coconut between layers and lavishly cover top and sides with the larger shreds. for mom 'n daughter, too!
