LOCAL GROCER HONORED
Blayne Hutchison, President and General Manager of the chain of All-American Markets was recently appointed Vice President of the Western States Chain Grocers Association at the 35th Annual Convention just concluded at Coronado.
The Western States Chain Grocers Association is an organization with membership composed of the tour of the center with Walter Cronkite, noted network newscaster, narrating from his mobile vantage point in Firebird II, GM's latest experimental gas turbine automobile.
Viewers will see typical experiments being conducted for the benefit of various GM divisions, GM's "free piston" engine car "XP-500", and exterior and interior views of the center which won architectural awards even before it was complete.
Following Mr. Cronkite's narrative tour, Harlow H. Curtice, president of General Motors, will deliver a major address. Other GM speakers will be Dr. Lawrence R. Hefstedt, vice president in charge leading food chains in the west.
The convention at Coronado this year had as its theme "Future Unlimited" and dealt primarily with the many new developments now being introduced to provide greater service and convenience for food shoppers in the nation's chain food stores.
Mr. Hutchison previously has held the offices of Treasurer and Secretary respectively for the grocers organization for the past two years.
