Frederick L. Luce Passes on Monday Frederick L. Luce, 85, a resident of California for 73 years and of Anaheim for six years, died Monday evening at the family home, 119 Cherry street, after an extended illness. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Naomi R. Le-Mon of Anaheim, one brother, David Luce of Mass, a niece, Mrs. Charlotte Dittlevon of South Gate; a nephew, William E. Clark of Whittier and other nieces and nephews in the east. He was affiliated with the Jebovah Witnesses, and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 109 of Anaheim. Funeral services will be conducted from Hilgenfeld chapel Thursday at 2 o'clock and burial RECREATION ACTIVITIES FOR AUGUST ANNOUNCED Special activities coming up under the sponsorship of the Parks and Recreation department are the "A" League swim meet at the high school plunge 10-12 noon on Aug. 15; checkers and chess tournament to be held daily at City Park Aug. 15-19, and the annual talent night open to competition to all amateur talent in the Anaheim area at the Greek Theater, Aug. 17, which is next Wednesday evening. ANAHEIM BOY GRADUATES FROM MEDICAL FIELD SERVICE SCHOOL Pvt. Richard P. Larouche, 19, son of Mrs. Rena L. Larouch, 1403 California pl., Anaheim, recently graduated from the Medical Field Service School's dental laboratory course at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Private Larouche, a 1954 graduate of Anaheim High School, entered the Army in November 1954 and completed basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. He has received orders assigning him to Fort McPherson, Ga. It's a boy for Mr. and Mrs. Gayle G. McDowell of 10312 Gilbert St. The 6 lb. 4½ oz. infant was born in Fullerton Cottage hospital on Aug. 12. VFW Auxiliary Observes Birthday The twentieth birthday of the local auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3173; will be celebrated on Monday evening at a potluck supper in the City Park. Honored guests will be the nine remaining charter members of the organization. Members and their families are invited to attend and to bring a covered dish and their table service. Cake and coffee will be furnished by the auxiliary. The next regular meeting will be Sept. 12. Ivy Ryan and Evan Norman have been elected gates to the VFW national campment to be held in Brownsville with Cecilia Baxter and Eliza Aldrich as alternates.
