Bilbao–Norwine Wedding Rites Held in S.A. Church
Robert P. Norwine, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Norwine of Anaheim, claimed as his bride in morning nuptials held in St. Joseph's Catholic church, Santa Ana, recently, the former Miss Frances Rose Bilbao, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Bilbao of Orange.
As the Rev. Donald Montrose officiated at the double ring rites, the bride was wearing a ballet length bouffant gown of embroidered tulle. Her short veil of silk illusion net was held by a crown of braided tulle. She carried a prayer book arranged with a white orchid surrounded by lilies-of-the-valley.
Attending Miss Bilbao were Mrs. J. W. Barksdale as matron of honor, Miss Jeannette Maysonnave, a cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid. They wore matching gowns of peacock blue crystallette and headpieces of the same fabric, and carried gold-toned roses.
George Norwine, Jr., attended his brother as best man, and guests were seated by Jay Meade and Joseph W. Barksdale, the bride's brother-in-law. The bride's niece, Janice Barksdale, was flower girl.
A reception followed at a local wedding chapel. Mrs. Louis Barksdale was in charge of the guest book.
The newly-weds departed for a honeymoon in Las Vegas, Nevada. They plan to make their first home in Santa Ana.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Anaheim Union High school and attended Orange Coast College. He has served two years with the U.S.Air Force. His bride is a graduate of Mater Del High school.
TWINS FOR THE ROY ANDERSON FAMILY
Twins were born on Dec. 4 to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson of 24 Boysen Ave. As they checked in at Santa Ana Community hospital, the boy weighed 5 lbs., and the girl weighed 4 lbs. 12 3/4 oz.
New Postal Laws Now In Effect
Postmaster L. H. Hoskins Anaheim, today called to the attention of mail users new post regulations being issue dstarti December 1, which will provide important changes and simplifications in the use of the mails.
The Post Office Department issued a final edition a history making new Postal Manual which contains these changes in simple form. The new manual will bring together in less than 300 pages public-interest postal regulation formerly scattered through 400 pages of dense print, Postmaster Hoskins explained.
This publication may be obtained at 65 cents a copy from the Superintendent of Documents Washington 25, D.C.
The revision of the Postal Manual, Postmaster Hoskins said, represents what Postmaster General Arthur E. Summerfield has described as the most complete revision of regulations in the history of the U.S.Post Office Department.
The Department on October 1 issued the first preliminary edition, and Postmaster General Summerfield invited the general public, as well as large mailers and postal employees, to suggest constructive revisions for incorporation into the final edition.

"The Messiah"

Handel's Messiah was sung at Anaheim Union High school auditorium at 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. The performance, one of six simultaneously sung in area throughout Southern California, was held at the Anaheim Union High school auditorium. More than an estimated 100,000 people heard and saw the various performances. The soprano lead was Chaconne Asher. Corene Boettche contralto, Marvin Fennema, tenor and W. E. Fackiner, bass. Termed the greatest sins of kind in the world, the Messiah sing is sponsored by the Southern California Council of Protestant churches and Church Federation of Los Angeles.
For the past seven years, it has ushered in the Christmas season. The event has grown from participation by 80 churches in ten areas in 1946 to the present 900 in 60 areas.
The local performance featured voices from the Church of Christ, First Presbyterian church, St. Michael's Episcopal, White Temple Methodist, Grace Lutheran, Wesley Methodist, Evangelical United Brethren, First Baptist church, Bethel Baptist church and choral organizations of the High school, Mozart, A Capella and Anaheim High school alumni choirs.
It was sponsored by Choral Conductors Guild of California, Orange County Chapter, Ministeria Union of Anaheim and the Anaheim Association of Christian churches.

The artistry of dancer Jeanne Hays and pianist Elizabeth Paine was well received by members of the Anaheim Ebell club on Monday afternoon at the annual Christmas tea. The holiday season predominated in the lavish decorations used throughout the club house. Guests participated by each hanging an ornament on the Christmas tree. Each member brought a non-perishable gift for Indians on reservations.
The welcome was given by Mrs. Harry Horn, vice-president, in the absence of Mrs. George La-Follette. Mrs. John Bovee, Jr., second vice-president, was program chairman. New members were especially honored.
Jr. Ebell Host To Girls From Home
Girls of the Orange County Juvenile Home were guests of the Welfare Section of the Junior Ebell club on Monday evening (Dec. 6). The hostesses had planned a Christmas party under the direction of section leader, Mrs. Norman Tempus.
Talks on good grooming were given by Cecil and Döllie Porter of La Dona Beauty Salon. These were followed by a dance program staged by the Richards Martin studio.
At the conclusion of the entertainment, refreshments were served and each guest received a Christmas gift.
Darrow Appointed Sales Manager
Ansel Darrow has been appointed as Sales Manager at Casey-Beckham Pontiac agency, 336 So. Los Angeles in Anaheim, it was announced this week.
Darrow started as a mechanic with Pontiac and rose to the position of shop forman before moving into the sales manager's spot.
He has been with Pontiac for the past 18 years.

Dates Set For
1955 County Fair
The 1955 Orange County Fair will be held Aug. 9 through 15, at the Fairgrounds on Newport Blvd., it was announced this week by R. M. C. Fullenwider, secretary-manager.
Fullenwider and H. Clay Kellogg of Garden Grove, a director of the 32nd District Agricultural Association which sponsors the Fair, attended the annual meeting of the Western Fairs Association in Monterey this week.
The Fair association includes representatives from 241 fairs, expositions and other similar activities from California and seven other western states, as well as from Canada.
Fullenwider is chairman of the awards committee of the association, in addition to serving on the by-laws and research committees.
