November, 1879 Between one and two o'clock on Sunday morning the rain began to drench in vast volume and mistified with but slight intermittent until about 3 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. There were several shows on Sunday night but on Monday morning the sky was cloudless, and the atmosphere was clear, bright and instigating. Everyone who can possibly get seed should sow wheat, wears this is impossible, they should raise a diversity of crops—Chevallier hayley, common barley, rye, etc. If all farmers raise but one kind of grain, the effect on the market is bound to be bad, but when a diversity of crops is raised the producer is apt to get at tip figure for some of them. In the cultivation of this small tract he will echew irrigation entirely, and demonstrate whether or not the vines will grow on the land in Anaheim proper without the aid of artificial moisture. The barber shop of Frank Baum was entered by thieves some time during Friday night, and a small sum of money, about $25 in change taken from the drawer. Five men belonging to Frank Dyer were taken from the drafter along with the money. Mr. Baum will pay a reward of $25 for the arrest and conviction of the thieves who are believed to be local artists. Work upon grading the roadbed for the Pacific Electric railway from Walters station to Santa Ana was temporarily suspended this week owing to a hitch in right-of-way.
