ANAHEIM GAZETTE Anaheim, Calif., Thurs., Oct. 7, 1954 Car Club Selects Name, 'The Igniters' "The Igniters" is the name given the newly formed auto club in Anaheim. Membership is open to those between 16 and 21 years accepting the pledge regarding care and operation of their cars according to the club's safety principals. Members voted to carry the plaque on their cars and to wear a distinctive jacket at the first meeting held last week in the Henry Brothers real estate office. Joe Neuman was elected presi- dent; Tony Bojorquis, viceident; and Charles Prentice, tary-treasurer. Presiding officer was Mrs. Geo. La Follette who introduced Mrs. Virgil Daust, president of the Junior Ebell society, and members of the executive board of the Junior group. Each gave a resume of future plans in her sphere of club activity. During the business session a memorial was read by Mrs. W. E. Whiteman for Mmes. R. M. Fay. James Pifer and William Schumacher, who passed away during the summer. The pledge of allegiance was given by Mrs. C A. Neighbors. Mrs. Russell Ireland led the singing of "America," and Mrs. R. G. Ringwald was pianist. "Teahouse of the August Moon" was most ably reviewed by Edna Stearns Dayton. Luncheon chairmen were Mrs. A. E. Bouren and Mrs. George W. Alden. The fall boquets were the work of decoration chairmen, Mrs. Frances Back and Mrs. L. A. Benner. SATURDAY ACTIVITIES Elementary school boys in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades were invited to the Anaheim YMCA Saturday morning at 9 a.m., to enjoy a program of songs, movies and fun and to learn how to become a member of a Gra-Y Club according to Dwile Haggen, Boys Program Supervisor. ANAHEIM GIRL TO BE EDITOR Editor of the Log, Orange Coast College yearbook, for the 1954-55 school year will be Mary Ann Bragg, Anaheim High School graduate, it was disclosed today. Preliminary staff meetings have been held and other staff members will be named within the next month, according to Leo Bushman, advisor. LEPPER TO LEAD ANAHEIM TOASTMASTERS James Lepper has been elected new president of the Anaheim Toastmasters' club, succeeding William Chambers. Elected to serve with Lepper are Hal Johnsen, vice-president; Jack Dodell, secretary; Don Parsons, treasurer; Britt Grey, educational chairman; and Charles Wetter, sergeant-at-arms. IT'S THIS...
