3 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, SEPT. 24, 1953 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Marjorie Schutte Weds Stockton Man in UC Chapel Rites Sept. 12 With close relatives and intimate friends gathered at the university chapel on the campus of University of California at Berkeley, Miss Marjorie Jean Schutte exchanged marriage vows with Alan R. Talt in a quiet ceremony at 5 o'clock Sept. 12. Attending from this area were Dr. and Mrs. Howard Tews, Mr. and Mrs. David Walkley and Mr. and Mrs. William D. Smith. Daughter of A. J. Schutte and the late Mrs. Schutte of Anaheim, the bride was given in marriage by her father. She carried an heirloom handkerchief that had belonged to her mother, and other sentimental touches were a lucky sixpence and a blue garter borrowed from her only bridal attendant, Mrs. William D. Smith. For the simple ceremony, Miss Schutte wore a Maurice Retner blue suit accented with navy and complimented by a small jeweled hat of lighter blue. Her wedding flowers were a single white orchid. As matron of honor, Mrs. Smith wore a suit of navy blue taffeta with a cymbidium orchid corsage. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Talt of Stockton, was attended by his brother Daniel of Redwood City. His close friend, Al Marin, was at the organ and played a medley of wedding hymns. Later in the evening, a wedding dinner was held in the Claremont hotel in Oakland. The bridegroom's mother was lovely in a toast-colored fallle dress and rose feathered hat. She wore a corsage of cymbidium orchids. Following dinner, the bridal couple departed for a Carmel honeymoon. They plan to make their home at 2615 Ridge rd., Apt. C, Berkeley. The bride is a graduate of Anaheim schools and of Occidental college, where she was a member of Gamma Kappa Theta and the PEO sisterhood. An estimated 110 members of the club and their guests participated in a planned pot luck supper of meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, green salad, rolls and homemade pie. The royal blue and white napery carried out the nautical theme. Earl K. Fancher wrote the decorator. Fleet admiral Kenneth Heuland was master of ceremonies and introduced the new pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs. Roland Anderson. The Rev. Anderson gave an inspirational talk entitled, "Chris the Pilot." Several musical selections were sung by the Mariners quartet to an enthusiastic audience. The Shore boat won the Admiral trophy for having the most new members present. Ed and Dixie Edwards were charge of arrangements for the quarterly meeting. Roland, Hornbys In Newport Follow Malvern Hill post No. 131 of Fullerton. The ceremony was witnessed by 18 members and a visitor, Mae Kinsman of Minnesota, who plans to make her home in Anaheim. Alice Robert, senior vice president, presided in the absence of Mary Fordyce who is on vacation. The second trip will be a visit to Corona Naval hospital tomorrow where patients are in need of musical instruments of any kind and plants suitable for planting on the hospital grounds. Announcement was made that Mary Swindler is feeling better now and would enjoy company. Mary Hatfield who received a broken shoulder in an automobile accident on Labor Day is now on the road to recovery and can have visitors. The relief report showed that $40 other than cash went to general relief, 79 cards were sent, 28 calls made and five bouquets delivered. They are now at home at 1405 Balboa Boulevard in Newport Beach until the new home is completed in Newport Vista. Mrs. Hornby is the former Beverly Elaine Beattie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Beattie of Riverside, and her husband is the nephew of Mrs. Grace Shattuck Ball of Anaheim. They exchanged wedding vows on Aug. 29 in the First Methodist church of Riverside with the Rev. L. F. Runion officiating at the double ring ceremony. The bride was gowned in white tulle and Chantilly lace over satin. The fitted bodice with long tapering sleeves and mandarin collar flared into a bouffant tulip skirt inset with panels of lace. Her fingertip veil was held by a crown of pearls, and she carried an arrangement of stephanotis centered with a single white orchid. As matron of honor, her sister Mrs. C. R. Streech of Whittle was gowned in turquoise blue neck and taffeta with matching headpiece accented with rosebuds. She carried a bouquet of turquoise carnations. Cousins Mrs. Dorothy Ditchel of Orange and Miss Glida Robbins of Riverside were bridesmaids in matching gowns of light pink and pale yellow respective. Lois Rebekah Lodge District Meeting H An excellent turnout was reported for the semi-annual district meeting of the Lois Rebekah Lodge held all day Friday at the Center st. lodge hall. Nine Orange county lodges were represented with 200 members in attendance. Large bouquets of autumn flowers were lovely in a toast-colored faille dress and rose feathered hat. Ray Damerell New Toastmaster Club President Raymond Damerell was elected president of Anaheim Toastmasters club last night in a meeting held in Dragon cafe. He succeeds Lewis Boys and will be installed in a guest night meeting Oct. 5 at Knott's Berry Farm. Elected to serve with Damerell were Bill Chambers, vice president; Hal Johnsen, secretary; Ed Wright, treasurer; Bill Bittles, sergeant at arms, and Bob Dickey, publicity. J M. Lepper will be educational chairman. Lyle Wallace won the weekly speaker's trophy for his talk on "My Pet Theory." Other speakers were Marcus Gartner on "Indecision" and Frank Sallee on "What Does it Mean?" A guest speaker was Gray Cole of Bellflower, whose topic was "The Truth About Shaving." Cole was an exchange speaker. Damerell and Louis Taylor win represent the Anaheim club at Bellflower this week. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Paladino have returned from a honeymoon spent at Lake Arrowhead. The couple, were married at St. Anne's in Santa Ana on Sept. 5 and will make their home in Anaheim. Personnel, IR Managers Elect New Officers Al Neely, personnel director of the Chiksan Co. in Brea, was elected chairman of the Orange County Personnel and Industrial Relations Managers organization at a meeting held Sept. 16 at Knott's Berry Farm. At the same time Stan Bates of Cherry Rivet in Santa Ana and Jack Cushman of Northrop, Anaheim, were chosen program co-chairmen for the coming year, and Walter Cook, plant employment supervisor at Hunt Foods, Inc., was elected treasurer. Retiring Chairman Duane Winters, personnel manager at Hunt Foods, Inc., Fullerton, who presided over the meeting, reviewed the accomplishments of the organization to date and praised the retiring officers for their work in the year past. Dave Snow, now affiliated with the Los Angeles branch of Minneapolis Honeywell is the retiring program chairman. Harrison Beemer of the Fullerton branch of Bank of America served as treasurer and Phyllis Harrison of Kwikset Locks was secretary. The organization, which is in its third year, meets every other Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. in the Family Room at Knott's Berry Farm and is open to all persons engaged in industrial relations and personnel management. Gar- Patricia Farmer Married in Union A popular local couple graduated from Anaheim High school in June were married Sept. 12 in the church the Evangelical United Brethlin in Anaheim. The Rev. The bridegroom was attentive by his close friend, John Gardner formerly of Anaheim and now Coolidge, Ariz. The quiet ceremony was nuzzled only by the immed members of both families who included besides the parents, bridegroom's sister Neoma the bride's brother Mike and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B of Apple Valley. The orchid from her wedding bouquet was pinned to her shoulder. The bride is a member of a prominent Riverside family and is well known for her lovely singing voice. She attended Riverside schools. Her husband is presently studying drafting and naval architecture at Orange Coast college and is employed by sailmaker Fred Lorenz of Costa Mesa. Seventy-five members attended the president's banquet held at 6 o'clock in the Dragon cafe. The evening meeting was highlighted with an inspirational address by Dorothea Niles Martin. Among the dignitaries escorted to the platform was Howard George, district president of local district No. 50. Plans were made for a picnic scheduled for Sunday in Hillcrest Park. Fullerton. After the business meeting, the group was entertained with a backward drill arranged by Midge Fitz. Barbara Myers and her committee served refreshments during the social hour that concluded the session.
