4 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, SEPT. 26, 1933 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA 600 Anaheimers View Fall Fashions At Merchants' Showing in AUHS The third annual fall fashion show held in the Anaheim Union High school on Thursday evening was termed an unqualified success by officials in charge. An enthusiastic audience, an estimated 600 members of local families, witnessed the dazzling array of everything that is new in style, fabric and color for the 1953 fall and winter season. Under the auspices of the Retail division of the Chamber of Commerce, the following store co-operated to stage the magnificent display: S.Q.R. Store, J. C. Penney, Lauretta's, Walburgs, and Lorenes Maternity shop. Fashion experts from these stores used live models to demonstrate that taste and style are within reach of virtually everyone's budget. Fall Silhouette Charles Harvey, well known Hollywood announcer and movie actor was master of ceremonies. According to his commentary and the fashions that were modeled, "follow-the-body" is the newest silhouette for fall with dresses and suits fitted closely from bodice to hipline. The sheath dress is very new as is the complete "costume look." Fabrics are sleek and shiny. Emphasis is on the fall colors of tan, red, blue and green. This season's elegance brought gasps and excited applause as frilly formalis, lovely afternoon gowns, handsome furs, and dazzling jeweled accessories were shown. Teen-agers were impressed with the wide range of possibilities shown in co-ordinated casual wear, and a delightful assortment of children's clothes caught the eyes of the small fry and parents alike. The well-dressed man about town will have a versatile mix'em or match-em wardrobe with an especially wide choice in casual clothes, it was noted.
