Newly-Wed Bride Honored at Post-Nuptial Shower Mrs. Donald Calaway, the former Teddy Lou Payne who was married on August 31 was honored with a post-nuptial shower last Thursday at the hofhe of Mrs. Charles R. Hokanson, 844 N. Clementine. Sharing hostess duties with Mrs. Hokanson were Mrs. J. B. Lillywhite, Mrs. Jimmy Starr, Mrs. Fred Mackey and Mrs. Warren Mackey. The Hokanson living room was nicely decorated with bouquets of dahlias, and shower gifts were arranged on a table appropriately graced by miniatures of bride and groom. A door prize went to Mrs. Scott Adams. The 30 friends and relatives who were gathered enjoyed games and delicious refreshments. The new Mrs. Calaway was showered with many exquisite gifts. Special guests were the bride's mother, Mrs. Ted Payne of 419 S. Indiana st. and the bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Harvey Calaway of 9081 Harding ave., West Anaheim. Katella P-TL to Meet on Sept. 29 A luncheon meeting Sept. 29 at 1:15 p.m. at Katella school will open the fall program of the Parent-Teacher League, it was decided at a Sept. 9 meeting of the PTL board. They were married on Sept. 4 at the Placeia Calvary church by Dr. Chester Pagett assisted by Dean Fish of the Baptist seminary of Los Angeles. The bride is the former Miss Claire Carlson, daughter of Mr. Benny Royer Feted On 10th Birthday Benny Royer of 617 S. Dickel st. has been celebrating his tenth birthday in fine style. On last Wednesday, he enjoyed a chicken dinner party at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Altman of Berkeley whom the Royer family were visiting. On Friday, upon his return home, 29 friends gathered at his home to enjoy a birthday party complete with colored balloons, assorted games, two birthday cakes, ice cream and punch. Prizes were won by Mike Duffy, Richard Neamy, Wilbern Wimberly, Paul Winters, Craig Gleemaker, Duane Dargatz, Dickie Duffy, Bobby Yaunt, Glen Stockwell, Bobby Smith, Dennis Fisher, Tony Taylor, and Johnny Taylor. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Marlana Carter, 309½ W. Wilshire, Fullerton. The popular couple are widely known throughout Orange county. Mrs. Carter is a graduate of Valencia High school as well as Fullerton Junior college where she was A.W.S. president in her last year. She graduated from San Jose State college in '51 and she was a member of Gamma Phil Beta sorority. She now teaches the third grade at Brea Laurel grammar school. Her husband is a graduate of Valencia high school in Placentia, has attended Stanford university and will begin his fifth year at Baptist seminary in Los Angeles this fall. He is employed by a Los Angeles steel company. 250 Wedding Guests Two hundred and fifty guests witnessed the pretty wedding ceremony which took place before an altar decorated with four huge baskets of orchid mums flanked with orchid candles tied with large satin bows. As the bride was given in marriage by her father, she was beautiful in a wedding gown of slipper satin, nylon net and Chantilly lace. A separate Eton jacket of lace matched the small cap which held in place a full flowing fingertip veil. The wedding bouquet was of orange blossoms, white mums and stephanotis. very quiet wedding took on Sunday last near Orange, Mr. Charles Bush and Miss Yarmell, both of that thrivv village, were united in the bonds of wedlock. The regular monthly luncheon will be served in the dining room at noon by the Osborn Circle. Mrs. Harvey Livingston will be the speaker at the general meeting at 1 p.m. She is visiting as many of the W.S.C.S. meetings as possible to tell her audience the state of Methodist missions at mid-century. Mrs. Livingston is a member of the First Methodist church of Los Angeles and has been selected to attend the national conference of missions at Buck Hill Falls, Pa.
