Spirit's Potency Told in Sermon
The practical force of spirituality in all details of human life as contrasted with the thought of spirituality as an abstraction is the keynote of the Lesson-Sermon on "Spirit" in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, Sunday.
The Golden Text is from Paul's first epistle to the Corinthians (2:12): "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."
Luke's Gospel (4:38,39) records that Jesus "entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them."
Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "Jesus established his church and maintained his mission on a spiritual foundation of Christ - healing." Later she says, "The supremacy of Spirit was the foundation on which Jesus built. His sublime summary points to the religion of Love." (pp. 136, 138).

ange County Fair
Assembly line methods have been adopted by at least one group in getting ready for the Orange County Fair, scheduled for Aug. 11-16. This is the Home Department of the Orange County Farm Bureau, composed of women who are demonstrating their business acumen by adoption of planned programs.
Evidence of one phase of their planning was shown last Saturday when fifteen men gathered early in the morning to transport a food booth 600 square feet in size from storage to the fair grounds where it was completely assembled ready for a new paint job within about six hours from when the men started to load it early in the morning. The building has been used during two past fairs and occupies a central and prominent spot at the fair grounds. Women of the home department were on hand to furnish a lunch to the workers at noon on Saturday.
Monday a group of women were at the Farm Bureau offices in Orange where they found a use for old beer cans. Cutting out the end of the can the women use the container for baking brown bread in preparation for the demand at the fair: Large supplies are cooked beforehand and placed in deep freezers.
Previously another group of women had cooked beans and bacon and placed them in containers ready for freezing. Other supplies have been arranged in a similar manner ready for the big rush as the fair progresses.
In charge of these and other arrangements is Mrs. Elsie Laux, chairman of the countywide Home Department of Farm Bureau. Mrs. Ralph Mauerhan of Anaheim is in charge of purchases. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Mauerhan of Anaheim are also prominent in all of the preparations.
Before the fair is over well over 100 of the county's Farm Bureau members will have participated in the preparations and serving of food at the booth at the fair, with what the women hope, well-prepared plans clicking like clockwork.
Neighbors of Woodcraft will meet tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Flora Berry, 734 N. Zeyn st.
