Marilyn Litz Wedded to Kenneth Vertrees in Bethel Baptist Rites In a double ring ceremony by candlight on Friday evening, Miss Marilyn Hope Litz became the bride of Kenneth Melton Vertrees. The Rev. Berthold Jackstelt officiated at Bethel Baptist church. The sanctuary was decorated with baskets of white gladioli and larkspur with a background of palms and fern. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Litz of 540 S. Lemon street and was given in marriage by her father. Her wedding gown was of white nylon tulle over taffeta with a short lace train. A tiara effect of orange blossoms held a blush veil in place and she carried a white Bible and a spray of white orchids and stephanotis. As maid of honor, Miss Marty Stedman wore a pale green gown of white nylon tulle over taffetta with a white lace redingote. The bridesmaids were the bride's cousins, Miss Valorie Rempel of Canada and Miss Joyce Busch of Anaheim, and Miss Rosemary Remland of Costa Mesa. They wore matching gowns of pale yellow, with similar white lace redingotes. All carried white New Testaments and white orchids. Candlelighters were Miss Ramona Schley and Mrs. Raymond Hazard. Bridegroom from Anaheim The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Vertrees of Santa Maria, who has made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Keeesee of 11194 Highway 101, Anaheim. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Keeesee were unable to attend the ceremonies because of injuries received in a recent automobile accident in the mid-west, and were represented by the bridegroom's stepmother. Raymond Hazard attended the groom as best man. Ushers were Elson Remland of Costa Mesa; Richard Vertrees of Santa Maria; step-brother of the bridegroom; Fernando Ramos of Anaheim; Robert Litz, the bride's brother, was junior usher. Wedding music was played by organist Mrs. Walter Gooden. Soloist Miss Dolores Giordino sang MRS. KENNETH VERTREES the tea table assisted by Miss Nancy Bressel of Santa Ana, and Misses Joella Wiseman, Joan Stabbert, Dallas Bowen of Anaheim. Miss Rosalie Vertrees, step-sister of the bridegroom, was in charge of the guest book. Special guest was Mrs. William Hetterly of Manitoba, Canada, who came to Anaheim to attend the wedding of the "little girl" she had watched growing up. At Home Now The new Mr. and Mrs. Vertrees are at home now at 540% S. Lemon st., after a short honeymoon trip to Las Vegas. For her traveling costume, Mrs. Vertrees chose a suit of rose-colored cotton tweed. She wore white accessories and her white wedding orchid. SANITONE CLEANERS you'll agree ... It's the best way there is today to refrigerate a "reefer"—but it's developing an even newer and better way to do the job. In 60 seconds flat, the giant ice-crushing machines Santa Fe recently installed can fill the bunkers of a refrigerator car with five tons of ice! They are the newest and fastest machines for icing cars yet devised. And Santa Fe "reefers" are the most efficient type of refrigerator cars now on the rails. These refrigerator cars and icing machines have carried the technique of ice refrigeration to the ultimate of present day knowledge. WHAT ABOUT TOMORROW: We can't be sure, BUT— Santa Fe is now experimenting with a newer way to refrigerate cars automatically for hauling foods which may require temperatures as low as 25° below zero. 30 new experimental refrigerator cars designed by Santa Fe, built in its own shops and each with a capacity of 128,000 pounds of frozen foods, are now being utilized in the movement of frozen foods. Each of these new cars has it: PROGRESS THAT PAYS ITS O Homer Nelson's Return from Extended Trip Dr. and Mrs. Homer Nelson returned on Thursday from an extended trip through the eastern states and Canada. The couple flew to Detroit on June 17 to pick up a new car, and then drove on to Rochester, New York, where Dr. Nelson attended the American Optometric convention from June 21 through the 24th. After the convention, the NelSONS continued on to New York City and after several days of sightseeing there, drove leisurely up the Hudson valley and the New England States to Boston. The NelSONS visited Montreal, and went as far north as Quebec, Canada. On the return trip, they visited friends and relatives in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The couple were enthusiastic about the scenery along the way. They report nice weather and no really high temperatures during the entire trip. Dr. Nelson practices optometry at 114 N. Lemon street.
