Eleanor Gilbreth to Leave White Temple; Bids Farewell at Party The congregation of White Temple Methodist church bid official farewell on Sunday to Eleanor Gilbreth who has served as minister of education for the past six years. During her years of service in White Temple, Mrs. Gilbreth has made the church school into one of the most progressive and most observed in the Conference. She instituted two-year departmental grading, trained teachers in the activity method of teaching, established regular workers' conferences, and stimulated attendance at laboratory schools. Under her guidance, camp attendance increased dramatically. Such popular features as Superteens, a club for those over 60 years of age, and children's division play night were pioneered. Perhaps her most significant achievement was the establishment of double extended sessions for all children's departments this past year. This feat has been unequalled in the Conference. Farewell Party In appreciation of Mrs. Gilbreth's stewardship, a farewell party was given for her in the church parlor on Thursday evening and was attended by 50 staff members and friends. Mrs. Gilbreth was presented a corsage and a handsome brief case as parting gifts. Wilbert Bonney, superintendent of the church Job's Daughters Hold Potluck Council members of Daughters, Bethel 5, held a luck hamburger fry in the park recently. Main business of the meeting which followed was the formation of plans for a money-management project to send officers to state convention in Fresno in November. The project is to attend the Masonic Temple date at yet been set. Mrs. Tillie Ehrle, Guardian, Bethel 5, presided. The meeting was attended by about 25. Six Outstanding Concerts Slated By NOC Community Concert Assoc. The Community Concert association of Northern Orange county has scheduled six concerts to be held in the Fullerton Union High school auditorium during the 1953-54 season, according to Robert J. La Master, president of the local association. These are as follows: October 26: Leonard Pennario, Southern California pianist 'who has played as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra. November 17: The Vienna Academy chorus of 24 voices. This is a famed chorus of 12 male and 12 female graduates of the great Vienna Academy of Music. They for the first time during the coming season. January 8: Dorothy Warren jold young soprano star of San Francisco Opera Company. February 8: Szymon Goldbäuer violinist of world renown. March 1: John Carter, tenor The schedule of this favorite tenor also includes opera engagements, concert performances with leading symphony orchestra, broadcast performances on Cagao Theatre of the Air, and long engagement with the Metropolitan Opera. April 9: The Columbia Concerto Trio composed of Ariana Bronx violinist; Arthy Alton ce Farewell Party In appreciation of Mrs. Gilbreth's stewardship, a farewell party was given for her in the church parlor on Thursday evening and was attended by 50 staff members and friends. Mrs. Gilbreth was presented a corsage and a handsome brief case as parting gifts. Wilbert Bonney, superintendent of the church school, summoned up the appreciation of those assembled in a brief tribute as the gifts were presented. Don Brown acted as master of ceremonies for the social evening of music and games. Mrs. Albert Stokes and Mrs. Elmer Hamilton presided at the tea table which was decorated with carnations and Savilles Depart For Oregon Idyll The Rev. and Mrs. John Kimball Saville and family of St. Michael's Episcopal church left by car yesterday for a five-weeks vacation. The family includes Susan, Deborah, Rebekah and John III, and all are looking forward to a seaside vacation to be spent at the family cabin at Port Orford in Oregon. In a very rural area, they will enjoy fishing, bathing, picking berries, hiking and observing the small wild animals that abound there. They will return about the end of August. Los Angeles St., Anaheim Christian Life Guilds of Zion Lutheran Hold Meetings at Picnic A general meeting of the Christian Life Guilds of Zion Lutheran church was held in the city park at noon on Thursday. Hostesses for the picnic which preceded the meeting were Mrs. Elroy Oldenburg, Mrs. A. Koch, Mrs. Ruben Jarmon, Mrs. E. H. Kersten and Mrs. Hal Johnson. During the business meeting at which Mrs. Walter Knigge presided, Mrs. Kersten explained a new plan for distribution of world relief, which will begin Sept. 1 for women of the World Service Guild of which she is chairman. Mrs. Kersten said that the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod decided in its recent convention in Houston, Texas, to join with the Lutheran World Relief, Inc. Units will collect clothing and send it to collection stations from where it will be shipped to Korea, Japan and Europe. The agency reported there are no less than 50 million homeless people in the world today. Mrs. Kersten invited members to bring warm clothing to the Zion Lutheran parish hall or to telephone her home to have it picked up. Bundles will be transported to a collection point in Compton by the Samaritan Society of Southern California. Instead of sending used clothing to the Berlin orphanage as in the past, the expected increase in postal rates will make it more feasible to send money orders instead. After Mrs. Kersten's report, Mrs. Knigge showed charts of the "Little Mexico of Los Angeles" mission project sponsored by the Southern California district. Miss Irene Schroeder will be the county delegate to the International Convention of Lutheran Women Missionary League to be held Portland, Ore., at the end of the month, and it is hoped that Los Angeles project will be added by the district at the convention. SURPRISE VISIT Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Johann and family, 902 N. Pine st. received a surprise visit from Mr. and Mrs. Fordyce Graf and family from Beatrice, Neb., recently. The families were close friends in their early years and had not seen each other since 1946. LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. "Orange County's Pioneer Newspaper" ANAHEIM GAZETTE How to simplify the job of painting your barns You can save all the work of mixing colon if you use Standard Shingle Stain to coat barns or any other unpainted exterior wood surfaces, such as fences and lattice work. It comes ready to use, in three colors: red, brown and green. Standard Shingle Stain penetrates, seals the wood pores against dampness and stops cracking and warping. Unlike heavier paints, it will not form ridges on shingle butts to retard water runoff. Apply Standard Shingle Stain with a brush or by spraying. New shingles can be dipped. Depending on dryness of wood, 1 gallon covers 90 to 125 square feet.
