When You Buy in Anaheim Booklet Tells Oil Well Story A conspicuous increase in the public's interest in the oil wells being drilled at Huntington Beach, from the shore to a mile or more out under the ocean, is reported by the Southwest Exploration Co. It may be quite logically the result of the series of advertisements which the company is running in this and other newspapers in Orange county. A colorful illustrated folder explains in non-technical language how these wells are drilled without marring the beach. It answers the questions of visitors who see this development for the first time. The folder also explains how the public has benefited from the royalties paid to the state at rate of more than double the 12½ per cent required under federal government leases. Most of the funds have been used for veterans' welfare, parks and recreational facilities—one example of which is the Huntington Beach State park. Copies of the booklet are available free upon request to the Southwest Exploration Co., Huntington Beach, Calif. San Joaquin Man Dies in Fullerton Miles Vernon Lee, 61, a native son born in Parlier and living in the San Joaquin valley all his life until seven weeks ago, when he and his wife came to Fullerton to spend the winter with their daughter and son-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. S. Truman Shelton, pastor of the Fullerton Church of the Nazarene died yesterday afternoon at 215 N. Highland ave. after an extended illness. He was an employee of the San Joaquin county road department for many years and the family home at present was in Escalon; San Joaquin county. He is survived by his wife, Lillie May Lee; one son, Vernon E. Lee of Yucaipa; one daughter, Mrs. Ruthellen Shelton of Fullerton; three brothers, Carl B. Lee of Fresno, M. Earl Lee of Tracy and Benjamin Ralph Lee of Stockton and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the Dopkins chapel in Dinuba, Calif., Friday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Clifford Boyd of Manteca, a very close friend of the family, will officiate and burial will be made in the family plot in the Reedley cemetery. Hilgenfeld mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Louise M. Karcher Dies in Hospital Mrs. Louise M. Karcher, aged 68 years died at St. Joseph hospital this morning. She was born in Springfield, Ill., and had been a resident of Anaheim for 29 years. NEUBAUER Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was; and the spirit shall return to God who gave it.—Ecc. 12:7. LINE-O-TYPE—L. P. Bonnat is Hoppy's stand-in. But before the small fry of Anaheim get the idea that the City Judge is Hopalong Cassidy's stand in, let us explain that Judge Bonnat is acting as Police Judge Gurman Hoppe's aide while the Fullerton judge is vacationing. The Anaheimer fined Joe Moreno $400 or 100 days in jail for driving whilte undes the influence. More judges should be as tough and maybe the highways might be safer. Niek LoPorto has been doing a big job. He planted six acres of lawn—part of a new Fullerton school. Speaking of Fullerton schools reminds us that there is a move afoot whereby Yorba Linda would withdraw from the Fullerton Union High school district. Brea-Olinda and Valencia HI schools were carved from what was once Fullerhi territory. The Buena Park school district once withdrew and returned again. NEWSETTE—Dr. Ralph Smedley of Santa Ana who began the Toastmaster's club as a Sunday School project is now touring the east to visit some of the clubs he inspired. NOTES—C. R. Young and Sons, contractors, are progressing nicely with the new Anaheim-Fullerton court building just north of La Palma park. It is here that Judge John Shea will hold court. Gardner McComber, the alphalfa man, is marking time on the Pfeniger estate. It's cotton picking time in Orange county now. If you don't believe it, you can ask "Tex" Bolton, the strip cafe man. They're picking cotton on his place out by the Hunt Food plant in Fullerton now. Lt. Roy Schriver, Daniel Godsoe, William Janfeld, Felix Martinez and Dean Williams were among 30 countens who received citations for their work with the Naval Reserve. Louise M. Karcher Dies in Hospital Mrs. Louise M. Karcher, aged 68 years died at St. Joseph hospital this morning. She was born in Springfield, Ill., and had been a resident of Anaheim for 29 years. Residence was 511 N. Lemon. She is survived by one son, Ted Karcher, three daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Dorninguez, Mrs. Mary De Gross, and Mrs. Louise Ferguson, all of Anaheim; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Showalter of Anaheim and five brothers, John Frank, William Herman and Theodore Hinrechs, all of Kansas. Mrs. Karcher was a member of St. Boniface Catholic church. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at the chapel of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary, Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Mass at St. Boniface church, Friday at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulcher cemetery. Finance Class Hears/Raymond How credit ratings are arrived at was told by Al Raymond, representative of the North Orange County Credit bureau when he spoke to the personal finance class of Don Brunskill at Fullerton junior college Oct. 10. Raymond was the first of a number of speakers on finance arranged for his classes by Brunskill. Types of information gathered by credit bureaus were described by Raymond. The three "C's" of credit considered when extending credit were explained by him. They are character, capacity, and capital of the individual seeking credit. Stabbing Case Enters Hoşipal Orange county hospital reported to local police at 8:12 p.m. last night that a stabbing case had been entered at the hospital. Investigating officers found a surgeon sewing up a large gash in the left side of Ygnacio Reyes Masciel 36, 1118 Swan st., Anaheim. Masciel said the stabbing occurred in his home, but reused to divulge any more information about the incident. Northrop Aircraft Inc. 500 E. Orangethorpe, Anaheim LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. You are directed to appear in this action brought against you by the above named plaintiff in the Superior Court of the State of California, and for the County of Orange and answer the complaint therein with ten days after the service on you this summons, if served within the County of Orange, or within this day if served elsewhere, and you are notified that unless you so appear an answer as above required, the plaintiff will take judgment for any money damages demanded in the Complaint. John Shea will hold court ... Gardner McCumber, the alphabetic man, is marking time on the Pfeniger estate ... It's cotton picking time in Orange county now. Roy Schriver, Daniel Godsoe, William Jauffeld, Felix Martinez and Dean Williams were among 30 countigns who received citations for their work with the Naval Reserve. Congratulations, men. You earned 'em. IT SOFFICIAL—A legal notice makes it official. The Governor proclaims it, thus: "I, Earl Warren, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim that a General Election will be held throughout this State, Tuesday, the fourth day of November, 1952." VIGNETTE — Hugh Warden, whose roofing concern has roofed a lot of Anaheim homes, has returned from a business trip east. It seems that the roofer had business in Brooklyn just at the time the World Series was being played. He got tickets for the first two games, which he saw. He had tickets for the last two games which he didn't see. While he was able to get ducts to Ebbets Field he was unable to do so in New York. He's a mighty good Chamber of Commerce man, because he said it's something like being in heaven when you step on good old Southern California soil ... The man was unimpressed by the subway, because he isn't used to being a human sardine ... His experience coincides with that of a lot of Anaheimers we know. They always look forward to going places; and when they are on the go, they just can't wait until they get back. "Honest," one guy said, "the old home town really looks good when you return to it." NITECAPSULE — Medical expenses are so high these days that a lot of folks can't afford to have a nervous breakdown. Investigating officers found a surgeon sewing up a large gash in the left side of Ygnacio Reyes Masciel 36, 1118 Swan st., Anaheim.
