When You Buy in Anaheim Cast of Seasoned Winners Prepares For FJC Productions of 'Peter Pan' Few of the members of the cast of "Peter Pan," annual fall play at Fullerton junior college, are completely new to the footlights, according to Alex Omalev, director. The play will go on the boards for two matinee performances, Nov. 6 and 7, and an evening performance Nov. 8, Saturday. Cast in the leading role of "the boy who wouldn't grow up" is Barbara Roberts, sophomore from Buena Park. Barbara is particularly suited to the role by her background of modern dance. A student of Mrs. Josephine Murray at the junior college, Barbara has appeared in numerous dance productions. Last year she was among the principal dancers in the vocal dance production of "Grandma's Thanksgiving" and the Christmas productions, "The Littlest Angel" and "Christmas Carol." With such a background of dance, Barbara can better portray the role of "Peter," who literally flies about the set. Barbara says she enjoys the role; her biggest difficulty is pitching her voice lower to speak like a boy of 12. In the role of "Wendy" is Joyce Shunk. A sophomore from Anaheim, Joyce portrayed a difficult leading role in last year's spring play, "The Silver Cord." In the 1951 fall play, "Stage Door," she appeared as the tragic, disheartened young actress who committed suicide. Double cast as "Mr. Darling" and the villainous "Captain Hook" is Roland Hiltscher, Anaheim. Participant in a number of winning speech contests, Roland is known about campus for his ability as an M.C. He appeared last year in the "Blue and Gold Show," when he portrayed a comical German walter. Another principal in the play is Florence Rowland, Fullerton. Florence is the possessor an accomplished singing voice and appeared last spring in the Fullerton junior college traveling roadshow, "Oklahoma Highlights." In that production, she sang a leading role. In "Peter Pan," she is cast as the mother, "Mrs. Darling." Portraying "Slightly Soiled," another character in the play, is Jack Wright, sophomore from Fullerton. Wright appeared last spring in the "Blue and Gold Show" as the harrassed and finally hysterical actor in scenes from "Stumboll." Newcomers to the footlights are cast in other roles. They include Andrea Williams, freshman from Orange, as "Liza"; Pat Mennes, Fullerton, as "Tiger Lily"; Jim Sterkel, Alhambra, as "Great Big Little Panther"; and Marshall Hall, freshman from Fullerton, as "Smee." Scouts Ready Hallowe'en Float Members of the Order of the Arrow, Ahwanee lodge, honor Roy Scout camping organization, will meet Wednesday evening at the Optimist's clubhouse to complete plans for their float entry in the annual Hallowe'en pageant and parade. The float will feature members of the group in the performance of an authentic Indian Hoop dance. Other members of the group will perform in the pag-eant at La Palma stadium. The scouts will be dressed in Indian regalia which has been made by themselves. Merchants who are assisting the group with their entry are Nadorff hardware, Anaheim War Surplus, Victor G. Lody, Meade and Sons paints, and the Optimist club. Plans will also be completed for a "work-party" to be held at Camp Irvine on Oct. 18 and 19 in order to ready the grounds and buildings in preparation for the coming national jamboree to be held on the Irvine ranch next July. Approximately 50,000 Boy Scouts are expected to attend from all of the various states and many from foreign countries. County Traffic Deaths Increase SACRAMENTO (CNS)—Rural traffic deaths in the Orange county area during the first eight months of 1952 totaled seven and injuries 189, and the accidents causing them numbered 114, the California highway patrol reported today. The totals compared with six dead, 145 injured, and 78 accidents during the January-August period last year, officials stated. Throughout California, during the same period, 19,196 rural accidents claimed 1578 lives and caused 31,031 injuries. For the period in 1951 the death toll stood at 1520 and injuries at 28,218, according to the patrol. DEATH'S LOG — Ruben R. Today is a holiday and the court will recess until tomorrow. A writ of mandate which would compel the Tustin city council to call a recall election for Councilman William Gray and City Clerk Samuel Pennington was demanded in superior court. The move is an outgrowth of a controversy centering around Tustin Police Chief Roy States, whose death did not end the squabble. Judge Robert Gardner granted one of eight men coming before him proba-tion. The others got jail and prison terms. Dolan Lee Ferguson, 19, of Anaheim was given a jail term on a check charge, while Ernest Casay, 23, was given five months in jail as a result of having become involved with a 16-year-old girl he intends to marry. EDUCATIONAL—A new cafeterium and kindergarten building were dedicated at Anaheim's Lincoln school in special ceremonies presented by the PTA. Paul Cook, school superintendent, spoke briefly. SPORTOPIX — Sunset league schools will begin a wild scramble for the 1952 grid title Friday. Joe Merlo has taken over the coaching reins at Fullerhi, replacing Dick Spaulding, who moved up to Fullerton college and has the team to beat for the title. Anahi is building under Clare Van Hoorebeke. Fullerton college, by beating Chaffey, 40-0, with Anaheim's Jewell Owens sparkling and Mt. San Antonio with a 14-0 win over Orange Coast, got off to a flying start in the jaysee race. San Berdoo and Santa Ana, the league powerhouses drew conference byes...
