Anaheim Area Graduates of FJC Receive High Praise at Cal Enviable records for scholarship and professional activities are being set by former Fullerton junior college students in engineering at the University of California at Berkeley. Fullerton graduates hold numerous key positions in the honorary and professional groups on the Berkeley campus, according to one of them who recently revisited the Fullerton campus. He briefly painted the picture of their activities for 1952. Bob Houston, class of '50 at Fullerton, held the office of cataloger for Tau Beta Pi, national honorary society for engineers, in the spring of 1952. In the preceding fall semester, he had been vice president of that organization and treasurer of Pi Tau Sigma, national honorary society for mechanical engineers. Houston is from Fullerton. Roger Larson, also class of '50, was corresponding secretary for the American Society of civil engineers on the Berkeley campus in the spring semester, 1952. The previous fall, he was treasurer for the national honorary scholastic society for engineers, Tau Beta Pi. He was also a member of Chi Epsilon, national honorary society for civil engineers. Larson is from Anaheim. Another 1950 graduate of Fullerton junior college, Dale Warren, was also highly active in 1952. During the spring semester at Berkeley he was president of the American Society of civil engineers organization. He was also a member of Chi Epsilon. Warren is from Fullerton. From the same class, George Jenkins, was vice president in the spring of the American Society of mechanical engineers on the Berkley campus. He was also a member of Pi Tau Sigma, national honorary society for mechanical engineers; and Tau Beta Pi, national honor society for all types of engineers. Jenkins lived in Anaheim while at Fullerton junior college. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, highest honorary scholarship society, Calvin Woods ('49) holds another engineering honor. He is a member of Sigma XI, national society for the encouragement of research in science. Full membership in this group requires a doctor's degree. Undergraduate students may be associate members, but are rarely admitted. Woods is a member also of Tau Beta Pi, already mentioned. Bob Hammond, another FJC graduate, was recording secretary for Tau Beta Pi during the spring semester. He also is a member of Sigma XI, the research group, and of Phi Beta Kappa. Hammond is from Fullerton. The record of Fullerton junior college graduates now in engineering at Berkeley led the university to send a representative last spring to the Fullerton campus. Among other important factors is the outstanding teaching of Lena Reynolds, who concludes 32 years of instruction in mathematics at Fullerton junior college with retirement at the close of this school year. Mrs. Carrie Moore Dies in Rest Home Death came to Mrs. Carrie A. Moore of 223½ W. Chartres st., Anaheim, yesterday at Chapman Rest Home.
