Conference of Scouts Attended By Local Girls
Six Anaheim girls from Senior Girl Scout Troop 8 attended the Orange county senior conference last week-end at Irvine park.
Members of the troops from all parts of Orange county camped out in Camp Rathke, despite the wet weather, and participated in a series of group discussions.
The conference opened Friday evening when camp sites were selected and evening meal cook-outs were enjoyed. A campfire program was held at 8:30.
Saturday activities began with a program of general assembly and welcome followed by small group discussions. The two topics headed by the Anaheim girls were "Vocations," when Ann Fabian and Paula Lande acted as leaders, and "International Opportunities," with Shirley Schmitz and Carole Bushman as leaders. At campfire Saturday, Sgt. Martha Burruel of the WAC recruiting office of Santa Ana spoke on "What to Expect If You Are Anticipating a Career with the Government Services."
The conference closed Sunday morning. Anaheim girls attending were Donna May, Cathy Peltzer, Ann Fabian, Paula Lande, Shirley Schmitz and Carole Bushman.
The Anaheim P-TA council will meet April 25 at 10 a.m. in the Investment in Youth building. A pot luck luncheon will follow. Lunchroom reservations are to be made with Mrs. Max White, 2439.
