George Hollyoke, Anheim's 57-year-old city engineer, was stricken while at his desk last week. City Administrator Keith Murdoch who was formerly city engineer of Claremont will take over his duties ... Buena Park Chamber of Commerce will decide upon possible incorporation at a meeting tonight, Paul Kroesen, chamber president, stated ... David Aaron, Buena Park attorney, returned from Washington where he testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee. He said he made a "mistake" when he joined a Red Deadline Near For Securing 1952 Auto License Tabs SACRAMENTO—Less than two weeks remain of the annual registration and license renewal period in which California motorists may secure their 1952 registration cards and license plate tabs without penalty. This reminder was issued today by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. The penalties imposed by law for delinquent renewals after Feb. 4 call for doubling of the six dollar registration fee and add fifty per cent to the vehicle license fees. A. H. Henderson, Director of Motor Vehicles, urged motorists who have secured their 1952 tabs to attach them to their license plates immediately. "Proper display of the tabs will assure the driver that he will not be stopped by traffic law enforcement officers to prove that his registration is valid," Henderson said. While the Motör Vehicles Department has recommended that motorists will find it most convenient to renew their registrations in persons, Henderson pointed out that residents of the state's storm-bound counties may protect themselves against penalties for delinquent renewal by mailing their applications with money order or cashier's check covering the fees, to Sacramento headquarters of the Department. March 3, will be the tryouts for Pasadena Playhouse contest. The judges will be: Miss DuCoty, Miss Golden merly city engineer of Claremont will take over his duties... TRAFFIC — Highway fatalities took the lives of four men during the week. Alfred Torres, 28, of El Modena, who was reared in Anaheim was the first Two Mexican Nationals, Maras Pascual and Juan Valazco, met death in a head-on crash with a tank truck. Barney Stoffel Jr., 30-year-old Anaheim trucker, was crushed beneath his heavy-ridden sand truck. Six men have died in county traffic so far this year. Five deaths had been attributed to automotive traffic at the same time last year. EDUCATIONAL — Trustees of the Placentia Unified School district capitulated and turned Dale Glick's resignation letter over to the press together with an "agreement" in which the board consented to pay its former superintendent $250 on or before Jan. 25. Voters of the San Juan school district will vote on a $100,000 bond issue March 21... About 250 teachers, trustees and administrators attended the fourth field conference at Newport Harbor hi school... Citizens advisory committee of Anaheim approved the plan to include two junior high schools in the Anahi school district will vote on a $100,000 bank loan. THE CADETS. The music will be supplied by Fred Lucente and his four piece combo. The price this year has gone up 50 cents. The total price of admission is $1.75. This dance will be for couples only, no stags. March 3, will be the tryouts for Passadena Playhouse contest. The judges will be: Miss DuCoty, Miss Golder, Mrs. Caverley, Miss Hitt and Mrs. Schulz. Awards for top-notch performers will be given at the Playhouse presentation. Gene Geselle, popular senior student and prominent football player, received a framed plaque and a Volt football in honor of his All-CIF first team selection. AUHS is proud of Gene, and the student body as a whole, wish Gene the best of luck in his future years in football, whether it be professional or amateur. Twelve students of AUHS visited the U.S. Naval Air station at Los Alamitos, Saturday, Jan. 5 and were taken on a complete tour of the base. They were lectured on different types of aircraft. And later in the day, they were shown a picture called "The Fleet Came In." The movie completed the tour. Lynda Bennett, Feature Editor of the school paper, will represent AU in the Nationals. Lynda and her poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," received top honors. And was revealed today, that the poem has been forwarded for national competition. Good luck Lynda. Nine AUHS seniors accompanied by Mr. George Hedstrom, were guests of Cal Tech college. Touring the college with full interest, the students enjoyed their complete trip.
