MORE ABOUT... Laguna Man (Continued from Page 1) Department. Through a slight opening in the top of the Dutch door, Pletts saw the three inside. He called to Bonebrake to come out. Shaw and Brightman tried to place Bonebrake. Shoots Friend In Back "You know Lt. Pletts. You know his daughter, Barbara," they said. But Bonebrake was not quieted. Pletts reached through a casement window and jerked the hitty curtain away, then ducked as Bonebrake sent a quick shot through the window. Pletts could not return the fire, because Brightman and Shaw were nearly in line of fire. Suddenly, Brightman made a break for the door, with Shaw on his heels and Bonebrake closely pursuing Shaw. Pletts saw the dame dart from the muzzle of the gun, held close to Shaw's back, as the bullet ripped through his body. Wild Gun Battle Pletts snapped a shot through the window at Bonebrake and missed, then hit him with a second bullet. But Bonebrake kept his feet, fired another shot through the window, then ran outside and threw two more shots at the officers. Then he collapsed. Enroute to a Santa Ana hospital, police said he mumbled, "I'll make Cook look like a piker." Police presumed he meant William Cook., the multiple killer. But when interviewed later at Laguna Beach headquarters, Bonebrake could recall nothing that happened after the poker game. Autopsy Performed Shaw's body was taken to the Winbigler mortuary in Santa Ana following an autopsy at the county hospital by Dr. Raymond Brandt, county autopsy surgeon. Capt. Tom McGaff, of the sheriff's identification bureau, was called into the investigation byyl Laguna Beach police. Only a week before, Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Y. The filers are Capt. John J. Swift of Glen Falls, N.Y.; Capt. Dave H. Henderson of Shawnee, Okla.; T/Sgt. Jess A. Duff of Spokane, Wash., and Sgt. James A. Elan of Kingsland, Ark. For Health, Eat California A STOCKINGFUL FOR SANTA TO DELIVER—Ambitious personnel of Northrop Aircraft—with a recognized pride in their product—decided that what Uncle Sam needed more than anything else for Christmas was a sleek, new Scorpion F-89 all-weather interceptor. As a result, a company-wide bond drive was started through payroll deductions to present the F-89 to the Air Force for Christmas. Here pretty Joan Ward, one of many Norcrafters who have pledged a bond to help buy the F-89, explains the drive to Captain R. W. "Dick" Kimball, Air Force flight acceptance officer who will receive the plane on behalf of the U.S. Air Force. Joan is seated on the nose section of the twin-jet, 600-mph-range Scorpion, the newest, fastest and most heavily armed plane in its class. F-89s are now in operational service with the U.S. Air Force. Christmas Greetings STEUERWALD'S 124 E. Center St. Phone Anaheim 5191 CHRISTMAS Greeting CLARICE Sportswear 219 W.
