Senator Nixon Claims Boyle Un-useful Now
WASHINGTON (UP)—Calls for the resignations of the chairmen of the Democratic and Republican national committees came yesterday from Americans for Democratic action (ADA) and from Senator Nixon (R-Calif.).
Nixon and the ADA, not often in agreement, used similar arguments in declaring that William M. Boyle, Jr., the Democrat, and Guy G. Gabrelson, the Republican, should step out.
Nixon is a member of the Senate investigations subcommittee which last week wound up hearings into the relations of both party chieftains with the Reconstruction Finance corporation. Both men denied any wrongdoing, both said they were only doing their duty, and neither indicated any intention of resigning.
Nixon said both Boyle and Gabrelson have lost their usefulness, although he declared the Senate investigations had turned up "no evidence of illegality or moral turpitude" in the actions of either.
The basic issue, he said, "is whether a high official of the national committee of either major political party should be in a position where he can profit financially from the influence he may be able to exert with government."
Lady Poet-Hurley Regales Optimism
Poet and humorist, Mrs. Jacobsen, regaled the crowd and their guests of the Thursday night at the Ladies' Night dinner.
Miss Jacobsen recited her which has appeared in many magazines, such as the day Evening Post. One of his articles was the revealing The Half Shell", or "Better Half Win", written Richard Armour and Minneen in collaboration and appeared in "Postscripts Post."
As one person congratulated "She's a little like Salva but more sane."
Also introduced at the by the Master of Ceremonies May, were two special guest Williams of San Diego district Optimist Lt. and George Tucker, deputy district governor, whom gave brief talks.

Lady Poet-Humorist Regales Optimists
Poet and humorist Miss Ethel Jacobsen, regaled the Optimist's and their guests of the fairer sex Thursday night at the Optimist Ladies' Night dinner.
Miss Jacobsen recited her poetry which has appeared in many leading magazines, such as the Saturday Evening Post. One of the vehicles was the revealing "Sex On The Half Shell" or "May The Better Half Win", written by Richard Armour and Miss Jacobsen in collaboration and which appeared in "Postscripts" in the Post.
As one person commented, "She's a little like Salvador Dali, but more sane."
Also introduced at the meeting by the Master of Ceremonies, Don May, were two special guests, Dudley Williams of San Diego, 14th district Optimist Lt. Governor and George Tucker, Optimist deputy district governor, both of whom gave brief talks.
because the charges against him will constantly be used to camouflage and confuse the issues and to protect those who are really guilty of corruption in high places in the government."
ADA is a political organization which includes many adherents of the old New Deal and of President Truman's "Fair Deal" program. It said of Boyle and Garielson:
"Though they may have stayed within a strict reading of the law, they have unquestionably contributed to the success of the program."
