The City of Brea celebrated its 40 anniversary ... Lifeguards along Orange county's strand are busy with hundreds of thousands flocking to the beaches to escape the heat ... Orange county will purchase 25,000 acre feet of water to help replenish its depleted underground basin. The supervisors, however, did not reveal how the $250,000-purchase would be made. PERSONALITY — Fifteen-year-old Sharon Labourdette will carry on the tradition that Anaheim is the home of California's most beautiful girls. COURTOPICS—Nine of the 10 young men who admitted their part in contributing to the delinquency of a 15-year-old Anaheim girl were sentenced to varying terms ... Conclusion of the McCracken murder trial is expected this week in Superior Judge Kenneth Goodwin. Ikes Plan Full Calendar of Events Under Newly-Elected Prexy Flynn At the first business meeting since their recent installation, the new officers and board members of the Anaheim Izaak Walton league set their sights on a full program of activities for the next six months under the leadership of president Clint Flynn. Immediate planning concerned the California State Skish tournament to be held at La Palma park next Saturday and Sunday. State champions will be named then in both accuracy and distance events with fly, bait and spinning tackle from more than 125 of the nation's best casters. The next regular meeting on August 2 will be the annual fish fry—featuring albacore this year—for members and their guests. In cooperation with the Orange County Council of the Izaak Walton league, the locals will staff a large booth at the Orange County Fair on August 15-19. In September the local conservation organization will be in national limelight when it conducts the 1951 All Skish National Casting tournament at the Los Angeles County Fair during September 20-23. Casters from all over the United States will compete for a fabulous array of trophies and prizes and the coveted national championships. Preparations have been underway for this tournament for the last nine months. The State Division will staff another large booth during the 17-day fair in conjunction with this tournament under direction of John O'Kane. The Ikes plan to enter a float in the Hallowe'en Parade, of course, and to operate their hot dog waggle to the Fullerton Union high school-junior college coaching staff to fill the unavoidable gap when Edwards again this year under leadership of Nick Wingert. The Annual Venison Stag in November and the annual dies night buffalo barbecue cemetery will close a very year for this board. It was decided that all items from these various activities be spent to improve and equip kitchen at the local Youth Center of Investment in Youth which is the home of the chapter of the league. Ike members Clyde Bush, Ter and Spence Allcock are engaged in building foundries and floor for the garage street recently moved on the Youth property. Building will be as storage place and workshifts the various groups using programs. A coroner's jury found her guilty of negligence in the operation of her automobile which crashed headon into a parked vehicle causing the death of Audry McCafferty, 16, of Riverside. Gilbert Walker Merrifield, 19-year-old Fullerton youth has admitted starting 22 fires. He will have his preliminary hearing Aug. 19, in the Pomona Justice Court.
