United Church Women Meet for May Fellowship Day at Calvary Baptist
United Church Women of Anaheim met at the Calvary Baptist Church, Friday, May 4th for a day of inspiration and fellowship.
The morning meditation was under the leadership of Mrs. A. J. Casebeer who introduced the theme of the day "Thank God for Work" by presenting the thought provoking questions, "What Am I doing with my Hands? Am I folding my Hands in complacent ignorance and indifference? Am I Wringing my Hands in helpless self pity and fear? Am I closing my Hands on my purse? Am I laying my Hands to some task, no matter how humble? Am I joining Hands with other Christians in fellowship for larger tasks?" Music for the meditation period was led by Mrs. Clyde Spicer.
Luncheon tables decorated by Mrs. Harold Clou and Mrs. Charles Meyers and committee were in the spirit of May. Tiny coolred paper hats served as place cards and larger hats filled with spring flowers made the center pieces. Mrs. James Baker and her committee presented each guest with a brightly colored tag bearing her name and church affiliation in order that the women might become better acquainted. The delicious luncheon served.

MRS. GEORGE ARMACOST
by women of the Calvary Baptist Church was under the direction of Mrs. Charles Reynolds and Mrs. Charles Arnold.
Afternoon program was opened by the president, Mrs. Chester Kerris. The Reverend Robert Keyman, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church read the scripture from 11:00 to 12:15 upon which the theme for the day was "The delightful musical punches presented by sir."
Mrs. George Armacost introduced a speaker Mrs. George Armacost of Heidamus, who inspired her audience with her challenge to church women to work for a better world as women have never worked before. She stated that work is basic to happiness and pointed out reference after reference in the Bible as to man's need for work. "The attitude of the world today," she said, "is our center." The present day attitude is to do as little work as possible. This attitude is sapping the energy and initiative of our young people." Mrs. Armacost pointed out that work is not only needed that we may be economically secure, but is essential for physical, mental, and spiritual well being. "We are laoovers together with God. Thank God for Work!"

10th Anniversary
Observed by
Retired Teachers
The Orange County Division of the California Retired Teachers Association celebrated its tenth anniversary by attending a noon luncheon at Laguna Hotel in Laguna Beach. Of the eighteen charter members, ten are still living and were present to answer roll call.
A short business meeting was called by the president, Mr. L. L. Deeman and reports of the financial secretary and the treasurer were read. Mr. Deeman announced the meeting on May 14 in Pasadena of the board of directors of the Retired Teachers Home and suggested that any one interested attend.
The annual meeting of the California Retired Teachers Association will be held in Los Angeles, June 19 and 20, at the First Congregational Church. A large attendance is expected since much of importance both to employed and retired teachers will be discussed.
A sad note of the meeting came when the names of the five members who had passed away within the last year were read and eulogized by friends of the deceased.
The next meeting of the Orange County division of California Retired Teachers Association will be a picnic held the first Thursday in September at La Palma Park in Anaheim.
A social hour in the hotel parlor closed the session and was adjourned.
