Crews Seeking To Save Seepage
Survey crews of the Orange county Water district are presently at work in Prado basin, making a study of the terrain to determine most suitable locations of channels to salvage waste seepage. It was announced at an adjourned meeting of the water district board.
The survey crews were ordered into the field following an inspection trip last Monday by Vice-President E. T. Watson and Secretary W. D. Miller of the water district, in company with M. N. Thompson, engineer for the Santa Ana River Development Co., and A. M. Famularo, contractor who has been doing channel dredging for the water district there.
A portion of the dyke along the main river channel was washed out a few days ago when the flow of Colorado river water purchased by the water district from the Metropolitan Water district was increased from 60 to 80 second feet. The flow was reduced 60 feet when the breakwater covered, but will be again ped up to 80 second feet, and haps 90 second feet, where channel banks are strengthened.
In addition to the main channel the SARD Co., and water dams have constructed other channels in Prado basin to collect sediment and return it to the main channel.

College Students Safe from Draft
WASHINGTON (AP) — Selective service has decided to delay the drafting of college men this spring until their test scores and scholastic averages have been calculated.
In disclosing this during a radio broadcast (WOL) yesterday, Selective Service Director Lewis B. Hershey also said he believes the "great mass of college freshmen will assemble freely next fall without interference" from the draft.
Educators here said thousands of queries have been received from students worried by the fact that their school terms — and their statutory deferment—may end before they can take the frothcoming aptitude test, or before their scholastic grades are out.
Students who score 70 or better in the test, or who are in the upper ranks scholastically, may be deferred in order to resume their education in the fall. However many school terms end before the test dates—May 26, June 16 and June 30—and scholastic standings often are not determined by colleges for weeks after school is out.
Hershey said also that the Kilday amendment to the draft bill passed Friday by the House "in no way impairs our plans for
