For Results and Quick Anaheim Gazette WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21, 1951 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Anaheim Gazette by JOHN S. NEUBAUER How much better is it to gather wisdom than gold—Prov. 16:16. TODAY—Springs begins! ROUNDUP—Ken Hollyer isn't the only one who's moving to Westwood. He's taking his office manager, Mrs. Rachel Adair, and his sales manager, Gordon Chamberlin, along to the Buick agency. Mrs. Adair lives in Whittler and there is a lot of cross-town traffic to cross. Speaking of traffic, Mrs. Winfred Jacques doesn't care for it. She was injured last week when a barrel fell from a truck and caused a freak accident. Perry Fermann will see it that every dog has his day when the Santana Valley Kennel club has its annual field day at La Palma park. PREDICTION—Cost of living note. Milk prices are due for an- LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. HISTORICAL—Verla Aras is greatly interested in Anaheim history. Perhaps, if more people had the same style pride concerning the founding, development and growth of the community historical facts would not be lost in antiquity... Mrs. Elizabeth Calton tells us that the public library doesn't even have bound volumes of Anaheim newspapers. "We have Gazettes for many, many years back, but they're not bound. We don't allow everyone to see them as they are rather brittle." Apparently, Mr. Henry Kuchel's complete bound volumes of the Gazette is the only authentic record of Anaheim... It is little wonder that Ray Holt gave up the idea of writing a history of Anaheim. Sourced material is too hard to get. PROMOTIONAL — Sam Balter was in Fullerton other day to shoot TVviews of the Ellay ball gamers. It is good publicity for any city to have a major league or triple-A baseball team train at its diamond... Bob Kelly made transcriptions for the overseas radio network at Fullerton... Newspapermen write reams of copy about baseball. Remember it was a Sporting News writer who quoted Cornellus McGillicuddy—Connie Mack, t'you—as saying that La Palma park was the world's best spring training ball park... Let's get Anaheim, Calif., date lines in the newspapers again. Now is the time to start working toward bringing a team here next year. ENTERPRIZE — Yorba Linda business men are to be congratulated on their achievements. ENTERPRISE. Yorba Linda business men are to be congratulated for their attractive National Orange show exhibit. They're putting Yorba Linda on the map. Paul Netherland was responsible for the design and construction of the intricate, animated exhibit. He built most of it in his own workshop. Hoyt Corbit, the Yorba Linda booster, and Ole Martin co-ordinated the details that went into making the community enterprise a success. August Marshburn selected the fruit personally for the dazzling display. "Winning any kind of a prize against professional competition is quite an honor," Val Lucas said. Valdo Smith would add that Yorba Linda won first place last year, and took second places in 1949 and 1948. That's quite a distinction. Yorba Linda is proud of its achievement. It is proud of Senator Eugene Nixon, a native soff. CONGRATULATIONS — Elizabeth Eaton is to be congratulated on being elected president of the Associated Women Students of USC. It is more than an honor, but a tribute to her achievement and leadership. NITECAPS UNION — You won't have to sink or swim if you keep both feet on the ground.
