Calvary Baptist Question Posed What attitude can Christians assume during this hour of national and international crises? This is the point which will be discussed at the 11 a.m., service at the Calvary Baptist church, Broadway at Citron, this Sunday. The title of Pastor Kevorkian's message is, "Hope or Despair—Which?" Many hearts have become exceedingly troubled over the recent evenings in the world, and this message is geared to analyze the attitude which the Christian can assume. A Christmas carol and candle-lighting service will be conducted at the 7:30 p.m., hour. The Christmas carols will be sung, Scripture pertaining to the coming of Christ will be read, and a message of Christmas will be given by the Pastor. At the close of the service, a special candlelighting will take place, with the whole congregation participating. The public is cordially invited to attend both of these services. A nursery is maintained for the small children. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE THEME ON ATOMIC FORCE THE question "Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?" will be the Sunday Bible Lesson subject in all branches of the Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston. The Golden Text is from I Chronicles; "Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; she forth from day to day his salvation. Declare his glory among the heath; his marvelous works among all nations." An account from Luke's Gospel reports that as Jesus sailed with his disciples across the sea of Galilee, "he fell asleep; and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy." And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish! Then he arose, and rebuke-ed the wind and the raging of the water; and they ceased; and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith?" Mary Baker Eddy declares in "Science and Health with Key to" TONIGHT Friday, Dec. 15 5:00 P.M. The county wants to hire a Senate Investigators Say Sex Pervert Easy Prey for Wiles of Foreign Agents WASHINGTON (AP)—A Senate Investigating committee today described sexual perverts as easy marks for foreign spies and said federal agencies have been lax about routing such perverts into government jobs. The group reported that in general it found "the same shortcomings and delinquencies" in the handling of the problem among congressional employees as it did with respect to workers in the executive branch of the government. In a report to the Senate, an expenditures subcommittee singled out the State Department for particular criticism. That agency, the group declared, "mishandled" 91 homosexual cases by allowing many of the employees to resign "for personal reasons" and failing to bar them from other federal jobs. "The lack of emotional stability which is found in most sex perverts, and the weakness of their moral fiber, makes them susceptible to the blandishments of foreign espionage agents," the subcommittee said. It declared specifically that Nazi and communist agents have attempted to obtain information from federal employees "by threatening to expose their abnormal sex activities." The group added that perverts also are "easy prey to the blackmailer." The committee quoted a report from the FBI that Russian agents have orders to seek out any private-life weakness of U.S. government and industry officials to lay them open to blackmail. In government jobs. It is however, that a check of federal agencies showed that since J. 1947, the armed services and villian agencies have handled cases of sex perversion. Of that total, 4380 were misdemeanor service cases and 574 involved villian employees. The government has roped in 2,000,000 civilian employees armed forces' exact size is so but they are building toward goal of 2,771,000 by next year. Thus the total number of handled in the period involved about one-tenth of one percent of the total. In connection with the secretes, the subcommittee said that the services "tradition have been aggressive in ferret out and removing sex perfrom their ranks . . ." It noted that there are many more men women in the services than are in the civilian agencies. St. Michael's Service Told St. Michael's church service the third Sunday in Advent be December 17. Holy Communion and corporate communion on new confirmation class will be 8 a.m., with morning prayer. WANT A COUNTY JOB? The county wants to hire a criminal lawyer, a couple of public nurses, a stenographer-clerk and somebody to run the county pound. These job openings were announced by Personnel Officer David Goodman. They include a deputy district attorney, Grade II, salary $440 to $545 per month; staff public health nurse, $259 to $319; junior public health nurse, which provides training, $233 to $288; county poundmaster, $233 to $288. The investigation of government employment of sexual perverts was authorized by the Senate last June. The action followed a preliminary inquiry by a Senate appropriations subcommittee which estimated there were about 3750 homosexuals on the U.S. payroll in Washington. The subsequent full investigation was touched off in part, too, by the charges of Senator McCarthy (R-Wis) that sexual perverts he described as dangerous security risks had been employed by the State department and other agencies. The unanimous report of the expenditures subcommittee was signed by Senator Hoey (D-NC), the chairman, and by Senators O'Conor (D-Md), Eastland (D-Miss), McClellan (D-Ark), Mundt (R-SD), Margaret Chase Smith (R-Me) and Schoeppel (R-Kan). "It is the opinion of this subcommittee," the report said, "that those who engage in acts of homosexuality and other perverted sex activities are unsuitable for employment in the federal government." "This conclusion is based on the fact that persons who indulge in such degraded activity are committing not only illegal and immoral acts, but they also constitute security risks in positions of public trust." The subcommittee said it is impossible to determine accurately how many sex-perverts there are St. Michael's Service Told St. Michael's church service the third Sunday in advent be December 17. LA Probers Turn to Sheriff's Aide LOS ANGELES (P)—Police investigators, getting nowhere with the Sica mob, turn today to a former sheriff's aide, Al Guasti, for possible light on the slaying of Mickey Cohen's ex-lawyer Sam Rummel. Guasti is scheduled to arrive by plane from Las Vegas, Nev., for questioning, perhaps about Rummel's reported bookle connections. Guasti retired as head of the Los Angeles county sheriff's anti-subversive detail last May. The three Sica brothers—Joe, Fred and Angelo—and four other henchmen, James Iannone, Albert De Martino, Roger Leonard and Nate Sperling, were released last night after their arrest on suspicion of murder. Deputy chief Thad Brown said there was insufficient evidence to hold them. The release came on the eve of habeas corpus-ordered court appearance. Also released after questioning was Harold (Happy) Meltzer, former Cohen associate. TRIPLE THREAT PINCH Fortunato R.
