The 7th Division was the first American unit to Press Wirephoto by radio from Tokyo. KOREAN WAR (Continued From Page 1) 140,00 pounds of high explosives on the Musan border area while other B-29s struck the port of Chongjin, 45 miles to the southeast. It was the second strike in a week at Musan. North Koreans are reported reorganizing and Chinese reds concentrating at Musan to block the United Nations march toward the Soviet Siberian border. Musan is 80 miles northeast of Hyesanjin, where U.S. Seventh Division troops raised the U.N. blue and white flag Tuesday on the Yalu river opposite Red Manchuria. Other Seventh Division infantrymen went hunting for a fight with two communist battalion reported to be holed up 10 miles southwest of Hyesanjin. General MacArthur's war summary in Tokyo reported: "United Nations forces continue to advance generally along the entire Korean battle front yesterday (Tuesday)." U.S. F-80 jets tried to get into a fight with 10 Russian machine MIG-15 jets over Sinuiju. But the red jets fled across border to safety in Manchuria. Four other enemy jets were sighted later over the city. Anti-aircraft on the Manchuria side of the Yalu river fired four American jets attacking the bridge at Sinuiju. Neither flak nor fighters were encountered by B-29s in the raids on Musan and Chongjin. Behind the fronts, a British spokesman said the British Commonalwealth 29th Brigade, equipped with new 52 ton Centurion tank has arrived at Kaesong on its journey to join U.N. forces in the north. Kaesong is 35 miles northwest of Seoul and about 120 miles south of the battle lines. This will be the first battle action for the Centurions. President Syngman Rhee of the Korean republic, heavily guarded by Korean and American military police, spoke to cheering North Koreans at Hamhung in his second appearance in the north. "I told them," Rhee said, "not to be afraid—that America and the United Nations are here to give, not to receive." Plunge Open The High School plunge will be open Friday and Saturday this week. City Recreation Director Don Derrr said today. Hours are 10-4. The AUHS gym will also be open. Santa was here! Yes...as soon as the NEW BETTY ROSE SHOP WAS OPENED... Petitions which were presented by William Morris, president of the Freeway Park Improvement assn., Alvin R. Baker, its treasurer, school officials and Mrs. Elliott Peppard of the Orange-thorpe Parent-Teachers assn., referred to the intersection as "hazardous." The spokesmen told the board that during the past month accidents at the intersection have caused two fatalities, injured 15 other persons, and resulted in 19 property damage collisions. Since construction of four lanes of divided traffic on the Freeway, the hazard has become worse because of added speed of traffic, they pointed out. Supervisors expressed agreement with the petitioners and passed a motion requesting the state to establish treadle-controlled signals and "other adequate safety measures." (Treadle-controls are automatic switching devices turned on by a passing car. Ostensibly the devices would be installed on La Palma to operate a stop signal as a car approached Manchester.) Sacramento River Continued from Page 1 cessive rainstorm ... is ended." The bureau predicted generally fair weather over northern and central California today. Reno faced a tremendous cleanup job. The waters of the rampaging Truckee river are once again retained by their banks after a 12-hour flood termed "the worst in Reno's history" by the mayor. Most of the $2,000,000 to $3,000,000 loss estimated by the Reno Chamber of Commerce was suffered in damaged hotels, stores and merchandise. Mud and water filled many basements containing stocks of Christmas goods. The water still was high, but receding, in two California areas. Near Marysville, 10,000 persons evacuated from their homes looked over a huge sea of mud and debris and waited for the Yuba river to fall. Pearson to Sacto Meet Anaheim Mayor Charles A. Pearson arrived today in Sacramento to serve on the committee of Intergovernmental Relations, composed jointly by the California League of Cities and the State Board of Supervisors. Mayor Pearson was named to replace Los Angeles Mayor Fletcher Bowron who could not be present because of illness. Because Mayor Pearson is not expected to return until noon tomorrow, he will probably not be able to give the opening address at tomorrow's community Thanksgiving gathering. City Administrator Keith Murdoch will speak in his place. Plane Crash When the fire subsided, he could see nothing resembling a campfire. The missing plane was bound from Chico, Calif., to Billings. Mont. Owned by the New Tribes Mission a religious organization, it was on the first leg of a flight to South America. Passengers included two young mothers with their children, widowed in the crash of another mission-owned plane in Venezuela last June which killed 15. Also aboard was Dr. Paul W. Flemings of Chico, Mission director. The new, twin-engine DC-3 last reported yesterday by radio over Idaho Falls, Idaho, at 3:48 MST. That was 50 miles west of here. The plane was due at Billings at 6:30 p.m. It was about that time that residents of this picturesque area 25 miles south of Yellowstone Park heard a plane overhead. It was far off usual air lanes. And it was flying west, just opposite the direction the California plane should have been headed. There was speculation it was lost and hunting landmarks. Half an hour later, acting Teton Park Superintendent Paul A. Lodge said a fire was reported about 1000 feet from the top of Mount Moran. There were no mountain climbers out," Lodge said. "We assumed it could be nothing but a plane wreck. A little while later the Civil Aeronautics Authority said the Clico plane was overdue and to watch for it. We reported it must be on Mount Moran." A Los Angeles group yesterday qualified an initiative measure for submission to the 1951 legislature in January. They contend crossfilling nullifies the two-party system. Warren, long an advocate of nonpartisanship, told a reporter: "I have not read the proposal but if it precludes the people of any party from nominating whomever they desire for public office, it would, in my opinion, be for the benefit of those who would control government rather than in the interest of independent government." If the initiative succeeds, a Democrat could not file for the Republican nomination in the primaries and a Republican could not seek the Democratic bid also. In this year's primaries, for instance, 88 of the 120 state legislators won both party nominations. LOOT CAUSES TROUBLE WAU, Sudan (P) — A Dinka tribesman, impersonating a police-man, arrested a member of the Jur tribe for possessing hashish, a forbidden narcotic. The Jur paid the Dinka $2.80 to let him go, but protested and started a fight when the Dinka demanded the hashish as well. A real policeman came along and arrested both.
