State of California Department of Public Works DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS SEALED PROPOSALS will be resolved by the Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, at the office of the District Engineer, 18 South Spring Street, Los Angeles, California, Room 406, until 2 p.m. o'clock on Nov. 6, 1950, at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read, for performing work and follows: Orange County, at the intersection of Grand Avenue with Orange Grove Avenue (VII-Gra-Til), Bi traffic signal and highway lighting system to be furnished and installed. Plans and specifications, and forms of proposal, bonds, and contract may be obtained at the above address. No bid will be considered unless it is made on a proposal form furnished by the District Engineer, and is made in accordance with the provisions set forth under Section 2, "Proposal Requirements and Conditions," of the Standard Specifications. Each bid must be accompanied by a proposed guaranty in accordance with the requirements of article (g) of the said Section 2 of the Standard Specifications. The Department of Public Works reserves the right to reject any or all bids. The quantities listed in the State Highway Engineer's Estimate hereafter stated are approximate only being given as a basis for the comparison of bids, and the Department of Public Works does not express or by implication; agree that the actual amount of work will correspond therewith, but reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount of any class or portion of the work or to omit portions of the work, as may be deemed necessary or advisable by the Engineer. Bids are required on the entire work described herein. In accordance with the provisions of Section 1770 of the Labor Code, the Department of Public Works has ascertained the general prevailing rate of wages applicable to the work to be done to be as follows: TOO FAT FOR UNCLE—Thomas E.
