These are for pies, salads and all sorts of baking. They are delicious when made into apple crisp and here is the recipe: APPLE CRISP 8 apples, peeled ½ cup water 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1½ cups sifted flour ¾ cup sugar ½ cup oleomargarine Slice apples into a baking dish. Add water and cinnamon. Sift flour and sugar together and then cut in the shortening. When quite fine, spread this crumb mixture over the apples and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for 45 minutes or until the apples are tender. Cut into squares, serve the crisp side up, hot or cold with whipped cream, hard sauce or ice cream. Serves eight. Rousselle, pioneer Extensive 'Kid's Program' Planned At County Fair Youth will be stressed at this year's Orange County Fair, which runs from Wednesday, Aug. 16 through Sunday. Many special events have been planned for entertainment of youngsters, especially on the first three days, including a free "Kids' Day" on Friday. On Wednesday, the opening day, at 10 a.m. a bicycle contest will be conducted at Stage A on the fair grounds. Hundreds of bicycle riding youngsters are expected to enter this event. On Thursday at 2 p.m., also at Stage A, one of the most amusing and entertaining events of the entire five days will be presented when a county-wide pet show will be presented. Youngsters may enter their pets up to starting time. A number of classifications, with suitable awards, have been scheduled. Included are largest and smallest pets, oddest pet (watch out for the snakes, lizards and skunks!) and best-trained pets. In addition, there will be a classification for "best dressed" pet, designed for young owners who dress up their various animals.
