Pop fought the brute manfully but had to eventually cut the line to give the fish well-earned freedom. Consolation was soon forthcoming, however, as Pop latched on to a 22 pound albacore a little later. This one he got home to the icebox. Dave Newhouse landed a 24 pound albacore to eclipse the day's jackpot. Sam Christensen caught four to take high point honors. As evidenced yesterday, albacore fishing is still good in coastal waters.
