For Results, Quick Page 7 Anaheim Gazette, Friday, July 14, 1950 'Fun on Wheels' To Appear Locally On July 28th "Fun on Wheels," the Wheel Chair Review presented by disabled veterans of the Southern California area, rolls into Fullerton Union High school auditorium on July 28. With a cast of 27 veterans confined to wheel chairs, 15 Hollywood movie starlets, and other feature performers, the show has already tourned a major part of the southland. Veterans are all from Birmingham hospital. Program includes a wheel-chair bound tight-rope walker; a "jitter-wheeling" contest, dancing on wheels, wheel ballet, and square wheeling. Show is staged by Nick Castle, MGM, and directed by Phil Boutelje. Establishment of a dictatorship in Colombia last year ended an unbroken half-century of constitutional government in that country, says the Book of Knowledge year book. Wife Slayer Trial Postponed a Week The murder trial of John C. Odle, 58, charged with slaying his wife, Arvilla, 52, in a downtown Santa Ana stationer's store last May 6 has been postponed one SUES FOR DIVORCE Mrs. Pauline L. Martinez today brought suit in Superior court for a divorce from Manuel Martinez, of Stanton, charging him with mental cruelty. They were married at Yuma in November 1942, and separated last July 1. The wife asks custody of their two sons, aged seven and five, and also sued for financial support. Odle, 58, charged with slaying his wife, Arvilla, 52, in a downtown Santa Ana stationer's store last May 6, has been postponed one week to July 24 at the request of the defense. Defense Attorney Z. B. West informed Judge Robert Gardner that the report of the two psychiatrists appointed by the court to pass upon Odle's mental condition had just reached him yesterday and he would not have sufficient time to study them and sumbit them to defense psychiatrists before next Monday, the original trial date. The court accordingly granted more time. The defense has pleaded insanity. The shooting of Mrs. Odle last May took place in the store where she was employed. She had obtained an interlocutory decree of divorce from Odle two weeks earlier. He came to the store that day to plead for a reconciliation, and when refused he allegedly drew a revolver and fired three shots into her head and body as she stood beside him. He than went to police headquarters and surrendered himself and his gun. Val-lauris Ware is made in the backyard kilns of the French people and the more rustic it is, the more highly prized. It looks fragile being pottery, but the more it is used the harder it becomes until finally it can be dropped on a hard floor without damage. This is how you season it: Rub the outside and bottom thoroughly with garlic.The garlic juice strengthens and reinforces the terra cotta and gives it pliancy and resistance to fire. Fill the casserole with jukewarm water, bay leaves and a few cloves or other spices and allow to boil over a low flame for one hour. Remove from flame and allow to stand overnight. Pour out the water and herbs after that time and the Val-lauris casserole is seasoned and ready for use. I learned this from attractive Helen Mitchell who has enchanting stories to tell about this ware and some wonderful recipes to go with it. Helen is an expert on housewares, be it dinnerware, glassware or kitchenware. She has a wealth of information and a lovely selection of housewares.
