Hula Dancers In Puente
Joe Miranda contributed his hula talents to Val Moore's program on Saturday night for members of the Los Alegres club at the American Legion hall in Puente.
The dancers gave a twenty-five minute program of ancient and modern hulas during the orchestra's first break of the evening. 30th groups and solos were presented by Patti Wood, Dolores Pool, LeRay Williamson, Hazel and Betty Schachner, Doris and Mary Rouland and Carol Ann Daniels.
After the girls had danced, Mrs. Moore asked for a member of the audience to come forward so that she could demonstrate the fundamentals of the hula to a beginner. Joe volunteered and brought the house down with his interpretation of the Hawaiian dance.

395 Vet Home Purchases in Orange County
SACRAMENTO (WNS) — Director of veterans affairs D. J. Callaghan, Jr., today reported a total of 20,152 homes in 55 California counties are being financed for veterans at a cost of $120,319,138.
The figure, which is 25 per cent higher than a year ago, is what the state has advanced to the home-buying veterans on a low-cost financing plan under the state's farm and home purchase program.
In Orange county there were 395 state home purchase contracts active as of December 31, 1949, totaling $2,575,657.
Veterans receiving aid through the program pay back the money in monthly installments with 3 percent interest. The interest covers the entire cost of operating the program, which thus involves no expense to the taxpayers of the state.

GYOUR PRESENT WATER HEATER!
Stop a minute and think:
Is your family using more hot water than a year ago? You are if there's a new baby or a new automatic clothes washer or dishwasher. Your present gas water heater may seem to be adequate because gas heats water three times faster than any other practical fuel. But if you continue to increase your use of hot water—and chances are that you will!—you're going to run short at times.

"Renewal of registration on California's vehicles will be completed April 1," he declared, "and an enforcement campaign on registration may be expected after that date."
Henderson called attention to the fact it is a misdemeanor for any person to drive or move on the highways unless it is registered and the current year's fees paid.
