Building Permits Total $26,100 City building inspector R. Nyboe, issued eight building permits totaling $26,100 during the week ending Saturday, March 4. Permits for three homes were included. John R. Kidwell received a permit to build a $6100 home at 605 South Olive street. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Olson were issued a permit for an $8500 home at 1267 Sycamore, and Gail Vary obtained a permit to build a $6500 home at 1241 East Sycamore street. Mrs. W. Dierberger was issued a permit to construct a living room addition to her residence at 523 South Resh street at a cost of $1500. No additional permits were issued Monday, March 6. Speak-Off Next Monday Eve for Toastmasters The speak-off for the Anaheim Toastmasters was announced at the Monday evening meeting held at the La Palma Grill with the president, Kenneth Heuler presiding. The speak-off will be with the El Toro non-commissioned officers club against the local speakers, who are Page Vincent, Louis-Taylor and Don Butka. Invocation was given by Aubrey Van Verst. Table topic master was Aubrey Van Verst who used for his topic "Building A Home." Toastmaster was Kenneth Heuler. First speaker on the program was Q. M. Ressler who used a quotation from Will Rogers, "All I Know is What I Read in The Papers," as his topic. During his discourse, he talked of the many controversial things in Anaheim and the future prospects of the city in general, the forthcoming freeway and its effect upon the industrialization of Anaheim and Orange county. His talk was of 25 minutes duration. Second speaker was Chauncey Stillson, who used as his topic, "Fear," talking for six minutes. Evaluator for the evening was Louis Taylor. Shattuck Speaks at Republican Rally Edward S. Shattuck, candidate for Attorney General of California, will be the principal speaker at a rally of Young Republicans of Orange county next Thursday evening, March 16. The meeting will be held at 7:45 p.m. in the Y.W.C.A. Hall, 321 North Pomona Ave., Fullerton. Shattuck, who is waging a determined fight to stamp out organized and syndicated crime in the state, proposes a sweeping reorganization of the Attorney General's office, claiming that the state's law enforcement machinery is inadequate to cope with the problem. County Filing Open Yesterday Eighteen candidates for county offices filed nomination papers yesterday as filing opened for mary elections June 6. County clerk, B. J. Smith, signing re-election, was the first file. Other county officers filed are: Les Eckels, auditor; Mozley, tax collector; Earl R. bey, coroner; Linton Simm superintendent of county schools and James A. Musick, sheriff. Mayor George N. Weimer ofange signed papers as candidate for supervisor in the fourth district, opposing Willard Smith. J. A. Anderson, former assessor, announced his candidacy for assessor; Glen Cave filed information papers for fifth district pervisor; J. E. Jackson and Summers filed for constable in Newport Beach township; V Motry and Clifford Kasad filed constable in Orange township; wood H. Paddock filed for juice of the peace in Orange, while P. Schmidt of Seal Beach and Steinberger of Santa Ana filed re-election in their own town as constables.
