Legal Group to Plan Expansion
The Orange County Legal Secretaries Association, which held its monthly meeting recently, heard Miss Bethine Kline, who presided over the session, give a full report on the recent quarterly board meeting in Los Angeles at the Biltmore hotel, which she attended as governor of the county association. An expansion program was the conclave theme.
Miss Kathryn Flatley, corresponding secretary, and Miss Virginia Lindsay also represented the local group. At this quarterly meeting the executive board of governors, by a majority vote, authorized state president, Mrs. Evelyn Atwood, a member of the Los Angeles association, to retain counsel for the purpose of amending the state by-laws to provide for a national expansion program.
Marie D. Jeannerette of the San Gabriel Valley Association, national membership chairman, reported to the board on many out-of-state requests for information on the California group, some of which were being directed to local Chambers of Commerce, and recommended to the board that action be taken officially in view of the interest being expressed by legal secretaries throughout the country.
Code of Ethics
The Code of Ethics of Legal Secretaries, Incorporated, is now available to its members attractively framed or permaplaqued on parchment in a wide variety of colors to enhance the reception room of "The Boss," Anaheim members stated.
Feeling that perhaps clients would be less reticent in outlining their reasons for "I wanna see my lawyer right away," if the code of ethics to which the secretary was bound were hanging in plain view, Miss Ellen Whisler, a charter member of the San Fernando Valley Legal Secretaries Association, originated the idea of framing the Code.
Members of the Orange County Legal Secretaries Association may place their orders for the Code with Miss Berthine Kline, secretary to James H. Kindel, 705 North Main street, Santa Ana.
The Code of Ethics of Legal Secretaries, Incorporated, is as follows:
1. The first duty of a legal secretary is loyalty to her employer.
2. It shall be the duty of each and every member of any Legal Secretaries Association within the State of California to, at all times, maintain a standard of courtesy statute that may now be in effect hereafter by enacted governing privileged communication.

5. It shall be the duty of every Legal Secretary to maintain a monious cooperation with her low associates.
