Mousie, Prolific Mother of 116, Doing Fine; New Blessed Event on The Way When Huntington Park high school art teacher, Ruth H. Johnson, received a small black cat for her birthday twelve years ago, she had no idea that she would soon be keeping the student body and faculty supplied with kittens. Today, and by actual count, Mousie, the gift, now twelve years older, has given birth to 116 kittens, and with the exception of three, all have beer, healthy, normal offspring. Interestingly enough, the kittens have been appearing regularly in assorted colors ranging from pure white to yellow and black. Some are short haired like the mother, who incidentally lost her last teeth three years ago. Others have luxurious long hair. The latest litter produced twins, both striped and referred to as 114 and 115, and a kitten with black markings the same as his mother. He is 116. (Mrs. Johnson) Long Beach Ready For Flower Show Entries of thousands of brilliant summer blossoms by Southland exhibitors in the 3rd Annual Long Beach Flower Shows, August 4-7, have given the event its theme, "Midsummer Glory," which was announced today by R. G. Hudson, president of Pacific Flower Shows, Inc., non-profit sponsors. The only midsummer Floral event of its kind in this area, the show is open to entries until 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, Hudson said. It is being held in the Long Beach Municipal Auritorium where the entire first floor will be given over to 112 compact sections of floral entries in two divisions both professional and non-professional. Trophies, ribbons, and cash awards of thousands of dollars are offered winning exhibitors with special awards for outstanding nursery and florist booths. R. Brown Colonial chapel, Santa Ana. Cremation followed at Fairhaven cemetery, July 17. The infants died at birth in St. Joseph hospital, Sunday.
