Center NEVER A FURNITURE SALE AS GREAT A Slate Altrusa Installation Mrs. Ann Clodt will be installed president of the Anaheim Altrusa club, during a special dinner-meeting at Knott's Berry Farm, next Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock. Outgoing president of the active women's service organization is Mrs. Carrie Lou Sutherland. Recently the two club officers were official delegates sent to the Altrusa International convention in Banff Springs, Canada, by the local club. Mrs. Sutherland returned here while Mrs. Clodt and her husband, Otto, 1320 Burton avenue, continued their motor trip to visit relatives in Colorado. The delegates arrived in time to register for the Canadian conclave Tuesday, June 21. They left Anaheim June 14, with Mr. Clodt, who tried his piscatorial luck during the interim. Among 590 business and professional women present at the confab were representatives from all over the world, including Korea, England, Bermuda, Mexico and South America. One of the outstanding Altrusa women speakers was Helen Kirkpatrick, war correspondent and recent delegate from Washington, D.C., to Russia and Germany, who gave a comprehensive first-hand description of "Peace Within the Iron Curtain." Currently she is heard over the "Voice of America" program. Welcoming the Altrusans and presiding over the meetings was the retiring international president, Corrine V. Loomis of Boston. New president-elect is Anita Cristlieb of Mexico City who will begin her two-year training period for the top Altrusa office. Enroute to Canada, the three Anaheim citizens drove up the Redwood highway along the Oregon coast, visited relatives and friends in Tacoma and Seattle, Washington, and the Sutherland family of Vancouver, British Columbia, before arriving at Lake Louise and Banff, Canada. On the return trip the trio traveled from Banff to Calgary, then to Watterton Lakes and into Glacier National park where they viewed all the scenic tributary canyons. From the park they crossed the prairies of Montana. At Cut Bank, Montana, Mrs. Sutherland caught a plane and returned to this area while Mr. and Mrs. Clodt continued on to Colorado. Upon her arrival at her 1109 West North street home, Mrs. Sutherland was greeted by her son, Jim, who recently completed his third year of study at the University of California at Davis. With Jim and her granddaughter, Karol Wahlberg, Mrs. Sutherland enjoyed the July 4 holiday with her sister, Mrs. Orilla Bigelow of Seal Beach. Installation Set for Legion Auxiliaries Joint installation ceremonies for officers of the Orange County American Legion auxiliaries will be Tuesday night, July 26, at 8 o'clock, in the Huntington Beach Legion hall, it was announced following a meeting Tuesday of the Orange County Council in the Tustin Legion hall. Officiating for the impressive installation rites will be the twenty-first district ritual team. At this week's luncheon-program Mrs. Elva Mae Jones, council president, presided. The presentation of unit reports headed the business session. The Anaheim unit disclosed that its Girls' State representative, Miss Jacqueline Whiteman, has been elected as an alternate delegate for Girls' Nation. Introduced as special guests at the affair were Mrs. Marion Mathews, district first vice-president; Eliza Mae Peterson, past department chaplain; Mrs. Nell Carlson, district rehabilitation chairman and historian, and Mrs. Veda Burry, department motion picture chairman. Next regular meeting of the County Council will be in August at an 11:30 o'clock picnic luncheon in Anaheim City park. Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Rimpau, 715 North Los Angeles street, Anaheim, welcomed a baby son who arrived Tuesday, in the Fullerton General hospital.
