The State Public Works board approved a preliminary expenditure of $1,655,100 for building site preparation at the college after officials of the University said the state is ready to go ahead. The funds will be used for making the building site ready for the structures, installation of utilities; sewers and all expenditures necessary previous to actual construction of the buildings. USED COFFEE GROUNDS MAY BE BENEFICIAL If your camelia plants look undernourished and seared in the summer heat, don't throw away your old coffee grounds. It seems the dregs of the beverage lightens and enriches heavy or depleted earth and is beneficial to plants, especially camelias, according to Rudy Boysen, Anaheim park superintendent. (Pub. Anaheim Gazette July 14, 21 and 28, 1949.) County Fair Gets $65,100 In State Funds Santa Ana — Permanent fairground site for Orange County Fair on portion of former Santa Ana Army Air Base here was assured this week following allocation of $65,100 from State's Fair and Exposition fund to be applied toward purchase of property from War Assets Administration. Remodeling and landscaping are now being rushed to completion to ready the grounds for the 1949 Orange County Fair to be staged August 18-21, inclusive.
