Spelling out the name of the product they deliver to customers of the Kansas City Ice Co., this fleet of 88 Cheyrolet trucks has a total mileage of 13,200,000 miles and is probably the oldest automotive fleet of its size in the country. Vehicles have been in operation nearly 19 years and are still in daily service on numerous delivery routes throughout Greater Kansas City. CHICKEN-MADRILENE SOUP 1 12-ounce can madrilene 1 12-ounce can chicken broth ¼ teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons lemon juice Few grains summer savory, parsley or marjoram Combine the soups, add salt and lemon juice and bring to a boil. Do not let it boil, however. Heating the soups, rather than combining them cold, helps to bring out the flavor. Take off the stove and skim off any fat. Add the herb and put in the refrigerator, covered, to chill thoroughly. Garnish with refined slices of avocado. Serves 4. Left-over waffle batter from supersize makes fine pancakes for breakfast next morning. Keep the batter in a covered container in the refrigerator over night. If leftover batter is a bit short, add a few bread crumbs, about one-half cup crumbs to one cup batter. This makes the batter go farther and makes good pancakes. RAINYE Service This Saturday Funeral services for Thomas O. Rainey, 65, who died at his home, 9291 East La Palma, Tuesday, will be conducted Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars chapel. A native of Missouri, Mr. Rainey had lived at his La Palma citrus ranch for the past 42 years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his wife, Vangelia W. Rainey of the family home; one son, George W. Rainey of Fullerton; three grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Large of Oklahoma. Interment will be in Loma Vista cemetery. REFRIGERATOR COOKIES 4 cups sifted enriched flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 teaspoon soda ½ cup lard 2 cups brown sugar 2 eggs 1 cup chopped nutmeats Sift together flour, salt, cream of tartar and soda. Cream lard and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs and blend well. Combine sifted dry ingredients and nut meats; add to cream mixture and mix thoroughly. Shape the dough inti 2 or 3 rolls, 1½ inches in diameter; wrap in wax paper and chill in refrigerator overnight. Cut into ½-inch slices and bake in a moderately hot oven (400° F.) 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Yield: 9 dozen cookies.
