KwiKset Is New
Gate-Way Name
KwiKset Locks, Inc., is the new name for Gate-Way, Inc., lockset manufacturers who in a recent expansion move, located their new million-dollar factory at 516 East Santa Ana street.
"Because we are embarking on a strong advertising and public relations program, we feel that closer identification between the product and the company can be achieved by changing the name at this time," Adolph Schoepe, president of the local concern declared.
He emphasized that only the name of the company has been changed and that KwiKset Locks, Inc., will continue to make the same high quality locksets, drawer pulls, screen hangers, sash locks, offset cupboard hinges and other builders hardware, formerly produced under the Gate-Way name.
Petko Industries, Inc., Los Angeles, continue as exclusive distributors of KwiKset products.

Jack Ruggles, pilot for Winston Churchill during his years as prime minister for the British Empire during the recent war years, was guest speaker of the Anaheim Lions club at the regular noon meeting in the Elks club. President Leavitt Ford presided over the business session.
An American, Ruggles enlisted in the R. A. F. of Great Britain before Pearl Harbor, where he served for five years. With his copilot, also an American, he was selected to be Churchill's special pilot.
The speaker, now associated with Seagraves Corporation, Los Angeles, distributor of fire trucks and equipment, related numerous incidents which occurred when flying the prime minister to Cairo, Moscow and Turkey. He praised the Englishman's courage and good sportsmanship saying Churchill could enjoy a joke on himself. He remarked that like all men in positions of grave responsibility, Churchill would rise to great heights but know moments of dark despair.
Ruggles was introduced to the group by attorney Preston Turner, program chairman.
Ford announced that student speakers representing Marywood Central high school, Catholic institution for girls, and Anaheim Union high school, will compete for the position as club-sponsored contestant in the annual Lions club oratorical contest tomorrow (Friday) noon at the Elks club.
A grand prize of an $800 scholarship will be awarded the winner of final speak-offs, Ford said. Smaller cash prizes will also be given during the preliminary speak-offs.
Victor in the local contest will enter the zone competition slated for March 15, competing against representatives of at least seven of the nine Lions clubs in northern Orange county. From there, the two speakers voted best will compete with two other speakers chosen following the zone contest in southern Orange county March 3, in the regional contest scheduled for the first week in April in Orange.
Winner of the state speak-offs will be chosen during the annual Lions convention, time and place to be announced, Ford said.
