Sportsmen Pay $4 Million Plus For Licenses California hunters and anglers paid $1,510,604 more for license during 1948 than in 1947, the vision of fish and game revealing today. A division report shows sales of 1948 licenses totaling $4,470,177, while similar sales during the preceding year were $2,959,573. Largest class of contributors are the state's anglers who pay approximately one-half of year's sales. Fish and game officials attribute the marked increase to the number of new hunters and anglers in the state and to increased license fees charged during 1948. License fee accumulations do not turn into the general fund of the state but are maintained separately for support of dividing activities. Sportsmen's Calendar The Division of Fish and Game reminds California sportsmen the following general regulations which apply to current hunting and fishing: Striped Bass: No closed sea bag limit; five fish or 25 pounds and one fish, except that, inpective of weight, at least high hopes of sending five off-boys to the Ojai Open, April 29 and 30th for the State Invitational scholastic championship.
