GIRL SCOUT NEWS
COUNCIL MEETS
Plans were launched for organizing a chorus of Girl Scouts to sing Christmas carols in the downtown section of this city and at the Community hospital, during a council meeting held recently in the Girl Scout House with Mrs. Leroy Ater, commissioner, presiding.
Eleven council members attended the session heard a report on the meeting held recently at Asilomar and also a report on a committee for an established camp in Orange county.

FATHER'S NIGHT PARTY
Fathers of seventh and eighth grade girls are being honored with a dinner tonight (Thursday) and fathers of fifth and sixth grade scouts will be guests at a similar dinner Friday, December 17. Both pot luck affairs are slated for the Fremont cafeteria beginning at 6:30 o'clock in the evening.
BROADWAY SCOUTS
Troop No. 4 of Broadway school is occupied with completing requirements of the painting and drawing badges. The project underway includes painting and planting flower pots. A cook-out was enjoyed indoors at Mr. Norbert DeCook's home in lieu of an outdoor spot because of the wind storm last week. Following the dinner, the girls had their investiture ceremony. Numerals, pins and crests were presented. The girls welcomed Georgie Hile back into the troop.
NEW BROWNIE TROOP
Troop No. 50, new Brownie troop of second grade youngsters at the Broadway school, had an investiture ceremony recently to which mothers of members were guests of honor.
Those participating in the program included Diane Ballinger, Beverly Brown, June Brown, Dolores Buis, Judy Chandler, Sharon Ford, Dixie Reisner, Sara Richards, Joan Sweet, Sheila Wilson, Diana Bradd, Sally Ann Barnes, Linda Lee Finefrock and Genice Stanton.
Mrs. Maynette Brown, troop leader, disclosed that Christmas presents are being created by the Brownies for their parents. To date 50 calendars and 30 boxes of Christmas cards have been sold by the troop.
ELECT OFFICERS
Seventh grade members of Fremont Troop No. 16 recently elected Carol Kirk, secretary; Eleanor Sewks, treasurer; Romona Roddman, Juliette Low representative, and Marilyn Hempshall, scribe. Mrs. W. M. Dierberger is troop leader, and Mrs. Glen Kirk, assistant leader.
Tonight the girls are acting as hostesses with eighth grade scouts at the special Fathers' night program in the school cafeteria.
With the exception of two second class scouts, all troop members have their first class badges. The troop is working on "My Community Badge."
PREMIER MEETING
The first regular meeting of Troop No. 31 of Zion Lutheran school began with election of officers which saw Marilyn Miller named president; Susan Himmerick, vice-president; Nancy Morales and Roberta Claypool, secretary and scribe; Joyce Dick, treasurer; Dorothy Fluegge, leader of Patrol No. 1, assisted by Roberta Claypool, and Joyce Dick, leader of Patrol No. 2, assisted by Carol Wilkerson.
Patrol No. 1 decided to work on the cyclist badge and take a trip to Knott's Berry Farm. Patrol No. 2 is working on towels. At the close of the meeting the members sang "Now Run Right Straight Home" and "Taps."

Recitation of the Holy Rite was held at Hilgenfeld chapel yesterday (Wednesday) evening o'clock and Mass was held at Marys Catholic church, Full this (Thursday) morning at o'clock. Interment was in Sepulchre cemetery.
Infant Son of Pedro Godoy Pass
The infant son of Mr. and Pedro V. Godoy of 327 J Street, this city, passed away Orange county hospital last day.
Other than his parents, singing are two sisters, Mickey Rose Marie, and a brother,ert, all at the family home.
Services were held at the Tuesday evening and interment was Wednesday morning o'clock in Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Funeral arrangements in charge of Backs, Campbell Kaulbars mortuary.

Stankey Funeral Held Monday
Funeral services for John W. Stankey, 66, resident of southern California for the past 60 years who died last Thursday afternoon at Murphy hospital in Whittier after an extended illness, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Hilgenfeld chapel, with the Rev. P. G. Neumann, pastor of Bethel Baptist church, Anaheim, officiating.
A native of Poland, Stankey came directly to California from Europe. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are two brothers, Adolph and Julius Stankey of Anaheim; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Lenz of Anaheim and Mrs. Bertha Sterling of Pasadena, and several nieces and nephews.
Interment was in Anaheim cemetery.
