Optimists' Yule Dinner Tonight Boys will be boys according to members of the Senior Optimists who are flocking to the annual boys dinner being held as a joint junior and senior event at Mother's Kitchen tonight (Thursday), with senior president J. W. Stephens presiding. Santa Claus will appear in person to distribute gifts and candy among members of the recently organized Junior Optimists club. Edward Van Zee, member of the Junior Optimist advisory board, stated that rapid progress is being made by the youngsters in their project of repairing and painting used toys to brighten the Christmas day for less fortunate children. Marvin Mason is acting as master of ceremonies for tonight's program for which varied entertainment is scheduled. The junior club is meeting each Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the Evangelical United Brethren church bungalow and each Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at the Orange County Craft Shop on East Center street. Three More Polio Cases During Week Three new cases of infantile paralysis have been reported to the county health department since last midweek, increasing the total number of cases since the first of the year to 101. The new cases included a child of nine from Costa Mesa, one of six from South Laguna Beach and another of six from Laguna Beach. The last case was reported to the department last Friday but the disease appeared November 29. Dr. Edward Lee Russell, county health officer, though the drop in the incidence in the disease this week was due to the fact that the contagion had about run its course in this part of the state. He gave that more credit for halting the epidemic than the frosts which have occurred in the county in the past few days. Issue More Permits to Build Three more building permits were issued this week by Inspector Rudolph Nyboe. Francis H. Tate, was given an okeh to alter the apartments at 200 North Olive street in the Sante Fe tract at a total cost of $3,200. J. M. Edds obtained a permit Monday to construct a garage house to cost $3,600 at 834 South Olive street. Permit to build a dwelling and garage at a total cost of $9,500 at 1250 East La Palma street, was obtained by Norman E. Kemp. GUESTS FROM RIVERSIDE Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Kelley of Riverside, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Nipper, who arrived in this city last Thursday from Oklahoma, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Nipper of 213 East Water street. Mr. and Mrs. Nipper plan to make their home in California where he will be associated with the Gazette in the mechanical department.
