Plans are well underway for a Christmas party and dance to be held at the J. D. McDonald home on Placentia-Yorba boulevard in Placentia, club advisor Rev. Father Paul Carroll, Anaheim, stated. A roller skating party in Long Beach concluded Tuesday's meeting. Last week, following election of officers, club members enjoyed an ice skating session at the Paramount rink (formerly Hynes rink) in Hynes. Yule Party for Stockwell Pupils A holiday air prevailed as the monthly repertoire class of Mrs. Darwin Stockwell, 206 Kroeger street, presented a program and was entertained with a gala Christmas party this week. Those playing piano solos included Priscilla Cranston, Judy Brubaker, Carol Van Verst, Bill Miller, Judy Miller, Mary Ann and Bill Hammott, Elenore Fuchs, Rita Williams, Lloyd and Glenn Stockwell and Dixie and Donny Selfridge. Unable to attend was Mary Vance of Orange. Participating with violin solos, accompanied by Mrs. Stockwell, were Phillip Taylor, Judy La Mori and Janet Ray. Wendell Taylor was unable to attend. Applauded with enthusiasm was a movie, "Mickey Mouse Plays Santa," shown by Mr. Stockwell. All the students gathered around a large table on which gaily wrapped gifts were placed, one for each pupil. Refreshments of decorated cakes and punch was served. Present other than those mentioned above were Mrs. Albert Cranston, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Van Verst, Mrs. W. N. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stockwell, the Rev. and Mrs. Phillip Selfridge, Mrs. Fuchs and daughter, Mrs. Albert Brubaker and son, Richard, and Miss Kathryn Poore and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Taylor. Appropriate decorations of car nations and roses about the room complimented a brightly decorated Christmas tree, embanked in artificial snow. Dempsey-Shultz Nuptials Planned Wedding bells will ring for Miss Mildred Dempsey of West Anaheim, daughter of Mrs. Mildred Dempsey of Springfield, Illinois and Robert L. Shultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Shultz, 937 South Hansen road, Anaheim, next Saturday afternoon, at 4:30 o'clock in the chapel of Capilla de San Antonio, with the Rev. Harry Evan Owings, retired Baptist minister of Santa Ana, officiating for the double-ring rites. Shultz, brother of Mrs. Ralph (Mary) Rouland, member of the Gazette advertising staff, serves as a Naval aviation mechanic for 39 months during the recent war. Currently he is in charge of cleaning route in Lakewood Village. His bride-elect is employed as a presser at Lakewood Cleaner. The young couple plan to reside in Lakewood Village. A honey moon is planned for April when the newlyweds will visit relative and friends in Springfield. 'Y' Clubs Plan Christmas Party To stress the true spirit of Christmas, a varied Yule program will be sponsored by the Hi-Y and Y-Teen clubs of the city, on Wednesday night, December 15, at the White Temple Methodist church from 7:30 to o'clock, Tommy Thomas of YMCA-YWCA executive-secretary announced. The first part of the program to be held in the church sanctuary will be of a devotional and inspirational nature. Center Anaheim 3534 Confirm Record Size Class at St. Michael's The largest confirmation class in the history of St. Michael's Episcopal church was presented last Sunday morning to the Rt. Rev. Robert B. Gooden, Suffragan Bishop of Los Angeles, by the church rector, the Rev. John Kimball Saville. Twenty-one persons, evenly divided between adults and young people, received the scriptural and apostolic "laying on of the hands." This ancient rite involves personal confirmation or ratification of baptismal vows. The new members of St. Michael's include Mr. and Mrs. Ernest D. Rose, Mrs. A. P. M. Brown, Duane Brown, Mrs. H. Palen, Mrs. Glenn Lehmer, Grant Brown, Earl Smith, Jr., Paul Knuese, Paul Harrison, Rowland Thackeray, Diane Kear, Jay Kear, Tyler Cone, John Phelps, Susan Arnold, Richard Arnold, Anthony Zava, Lawrence Newland, Sally Ann Newland, Weston Warwick and Roch Conklin. Nineteen persons comprised the next largest class to be confirmed in the church by the Rt. Rev. Joseph H. Johnson, First Bishop of Los Angeles, who was presented by the Rev. David Todd Gillmor, February 16, 1916. In his address to the newly confirmed members, Bishop Gooden congratulated them saying that there was a master plan in which each individual fitted into a divine scheme, and that, through acceptance, every individual could find peace and strength. Christ's words were the words of life, he commented when referring to the fact that December 5, last Sunday was Bible Sunday. The powerful living words of "Divine wisdom in the Holy Scriptures will lead to true joy, peace and eternal life," he added. FTD Florists Honor National President Here Members of Unit 10-A, Florists Telegraph Delivery Association, attended a dinner-program at the Anaheim Elks club Saturday night given in honor of Rollo K. Mueller, Columbia, Missouri, new international association president. This unit division comprises association members from Santa Barbara county and as far south as San Diego county. Among the 250 members and guests present were delegates from Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange counties. The program of the evening centered around modern trends and designs in floral pieces and bouquets. Demonstrations, especially with a holiday theme, were given by leading southern California florists. The great banquet hall was attractive with arrangements of poinsettias, gardenias, carnations, roses and redwood. Many new innovations and materials were introduced during the demonstration period. Degrees Here Exemplification of the major degrees of the Knighthood in Knights of Columbus saw 50 candidates from Pomona, Whittier, Santa Ana and Anaheim receive the degree Sunday night at the local K.C. hall, following a banquet attended by more than 300 Knights and their ladies at the Anaheim Elks club earlier in the evening. Herb Carter, grand knight of the local lodge, stated that it was the largest aggregation to attend this annual event in more than six years. Carter acted as master of ceremonies during the banquet presenting the program and introducing visitors. Special honors went to State Deputy John Growder of Fresno and to many other Knight dignitaries and visiting priests at the lodge session. Musical selections were interpreted by Misses Kern, Lewis and Lawrence of Marywood Catholic high school for girls. An exhibition, staged by members of the Los Angeles police department, highlighted the program. Main speaker of the evening was Robert Maglin of Hollywood. Visiting ladies were entertained at the home of Mrs. O. W. Heying during the degree session. Assisting her with hostess duties was Mrs. Nick Stehly. ANAHEIM YOUTH ON WHITTIER TEAM William (Bill) Brady, of Anaheim, sophomore student at Whit-tier college, was named center on the Whitttier College Varsity basketball team. The six-foot, four-inch, 190-pound youth transferred to Whitttier from Fullerton Junior Flowers, both of Anaheim. A delectable filet mignon dinner was enjoyed. Norton Hatfield Passes on Friday Norton W. Hatfield of 211 Kroeger street, this city, a retired rancher of Orange county, passed away at St. Joseph hospital in Orange on Friday, Dec. 3. Born in La Mont, Iowa, he had been a resident of Anaheim and vicinity for the past 63 years. He was 64 years of age. Surviving are a son, George W. Hatfield; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth E. Newlin and Mrs. Nancy L. Berger; seven grandchildren, all of Anaheim, and a sister, Mrs. Alta Parrott of Downey. Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars chapel with the Rev. Howard S. Congdon, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of this city, officiating. Interment was in Loma Vista Memorial Park. SPEAKS TO INTER-COUNTY GARDEN CLUB Holiday floral decorations and seasonal arrangements were discussed by Wayne Andrade, owner of Wayne's For Flowers, this city, Monday morning before the Inter-County Garden club at a meeting at Carey's Restaurant, Santa Ana, More than 150 persons representing Los Angeles, Orange, River-side, San Bernardino and San Diego counties were present.
