Hobby Winners Receive Ribbons At Exposition

space for the cramped hobby exhibits.
Special awards for the most unusual hobby entries went to Wayne and Hilda Reafsnyder for their beautiful collection of copperwear; Mrs. Ann Clingman and Mrs. Emilene O'Brien, for their joint entry of an outstanding doll collection, and the Anaheim Model Railroad society, represented by Albert M. Cranston, for its display of model trains.
There were two classes for model planes, amateur and professional. In the amateur class, first prize went to Charles Arnold of the Balsa Butchers, Anaheim. Bob Brown of Santa Ana took second and Al Channey of Fullerton, third. Joe Kitchen, who has received national honors for his model planes and work with the Balsa Butchers, took first in the professional section, and Bob Borcardt of Santa Ana, second. The third prize ribbon was fastened to a plane sent over by the Santa Ana Hobby shop. Its maker was a marine whose name was unknown to the shop. He left the model with the shop during the war, never returning to claim it. If he is living and re-turns for it, he will find model enhanced by the expribbon award.
In the section for wood struction hobbies, Harris took place, and two tied for Howard Douglas of Garden City and William F. Smith owe him.
A section for plastics won some attractive pieces; F. Brady of Anaheim winning blue ribbon and Harris, red ribbon.
The Anaheim Model Society won the prize ribbon on behalf reserved for trains.
Needlework awarded Mrs. C. O’Bourne first; Mr Liam Trapp second; and A.Ruth Schillings third.

The birthday cake was provided by the St. Agnes Guild, as has been their custom in the past. Members of Los Miguelitos, young people's group of St. Michael's, were in charge of the serving. Mason Henry was chairman of the ticket sales and the financial secretary was Miss Marjorie Pibel. A commemorative book is being published for the diamond event and those in charge of the sales are the Senior Acolytes, Terry Kilduff, Coman Darnall, Don Garrett and Jack Conklin.
