Guest Pastors at Methodist Church
Dr. Charles Ray Goff, pastor of the Chicago Temple, Methodism's great city church in the heart of downtown Chicago, will be the guest speaker at a week of Christian fellowship in White Temple Methodist church, beginning Sunday, January 5 and continuing through the following Sunday evening, January 12. The meetings will be known as "Christian Adventure Week" and will be planned toward the emphasizing of Christian fellowship and the deepening of religious lives. Dr. Goff is an outstanding national figure.
In the Methodist denomination, Hailing originally from the northwest, Dr. Goff is a graduate of the Garret Bible Seminary. He has been pastor of Chicago Temple for the past 12 years, and it is said of him that he has made religion personal and real and friendly on the cold streets of Chicago. His philosophy is that we are all country folk away from home, anxious for friendship and fellowship and a personal knowledge that God knows and cares about our needs. He preaches to an overflowing church every Sunday. Dr. Goff is further known as the original inspirer of the painting of The Head of Christ by Ballman. It was during hearing a sermon by Dr. Goff that Ballman visioned the new face painting. Dr. Goff will preach first message on Sunday evening January 5 at 7:15 o'clock, and speak each evening during the week at this same hour. He also bring the morning message Sunday, January 12.
Starting the week's Advent Series on Sunday morning, January 6, will be Dr. Elmer worth Helms of Los Angeles, who chosen for his subject "Nobody's, God's Somebody's." Following the preaching sessions each evening there will be "An Adventure in Prayer" will be under the leadership Rev. Ezra Ellis of North Glencroft Methodist church, Soloist counselor for the Adventure be Rev. Joe McShane of Holt.
Teaching a morning Bible Shorthour will be Rev. Alec Nichols of the Asbury Method in San Diego. He will teach an o'clock each morning, beginning on Tuesday morning, January 8.
Other out-of-town leaders will assist in the services area and Mrs. O. H. Sears of Bald field, brother of the pastor, a personal lay worker. Mrs. O. Sears, mother of the pastor, of Bakersfield, and Mr. A. Goodrum, for 35 years the usher at the First Method Church in Pittsburg, Penn.
Music for the week will charge of the three church choirs the Temple Choir, Chapel Choir and the Youth Choir.
Specialties for the week include a Men's Dinner on Monday night at 6:00 p.m., preceding the 7:15 service which will open to all.
Tuesday night will feature High School Youth banquet which the High School Method Youth Fellowship will be led to the combined Hi-Y and

Issue Rural Building Permits
Construction of three homes in rural Anaheim area was authorized by the county building department, Santa Ana, last week.
A permit was granted to Bruce McDonald, Route 8, Box 110, Anaheim, for a dwelling on the north side of Placentia avenue, 1,000 feet east of Ramona Drive, at a total cost of $4,600.
L. L. Burns of Route 8, Box 89, this city, was granted a permit to construct a dwelling on the north side of State street, one-half mile east of Bunkist avenue, at a total cost of $8,000.
A permit was also granted to Robert N. Menzie of Route 8, Box 74, Anaheim, for a home with attached garage on the east side of Liberty Land, 600 feet north of North street at a total cost of $6,500.
VISIT IN LOS ANGELES
Mrs. P. M. Wheeler and her son, and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Osborne Wheeler, all of this city, joined relatives in Los Angeles for an enjoyable Christmas reunion.
NEW DAUGHTER
Memorable day-after-Christmas for Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gatlin of 1139½ West Broadway, Anaheim, was the arrival of a new daughter at Fullerton General hospital. She tipped the scales at six pounds, three ounces.
GREET DAUGHTER
Welcoming a new daughter were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Brechtel of 716 North Sabina street, Anaheim. She arrived at the Anaheim hospital last Thursday, tipping the scales at five pounds and ten ounces.

REUNION AT RANCH HOME
The A. B. Andrade family spent Christmas at the McDonald ranch at Yorba. Host and hostess for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McDonald. Those attending the reunion celebration included Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Andrada and son, Wayne, andaughter, Carole Ann, of Anaheim; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dolbee and daughter, Barbara; Val Salamova, close family friend, and the McDonald's children, Claire and Jeanette.
Roasted turkey and "all the trimmings" were served at the long table centered with a yule arrangement of long stemmed roses, smoke tree and desert holly.
All the ladies were presented with orchid corsages during the affair.
HOME AFTER SIVE YEARS
"We just spent a quiet day at home," said Clyde Gearhart of Monte Webb's barber shop when queried about his Christmas activities, he then remarked that his son Paul enjoyed the day at the family home, 524 W. Vermont avenue for the first time in five years. He had just received his discharge from the Army in Iowa. Also present were the Gearharts' daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sarver and children, Marvin and Danny, of Los Angeles. "Well," he smiled, "it really was a big dinner, big tree, big day for us."

Charlotte E. Koon Buried in Colorado
Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte E. Koon, who passed away at the home at 725 North Lemon street, this city, on Thursday, Dec. 20, were held in Grace Episcopal church, Colorado Springs, with burial in the family plot in that city.
Born in Hillsdale, Mich., 88 years ago, she had made her home in Anaheim for the past five years.
Surviving are one brother, Frederick W. Jefferson of Anaheim; two nieces, Miss Helen Jefferson of Anaheim; and Mrs. Margaret Lorbeer of Pomona, and one nephew, Charles Jefferson of Long Beach.
Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary were in charge of the arrangements.
