For the present school year, the high school districts of the counties are receiving $647,380 based on 6,821 average daily attendance and a statewide average of $8 per pupil. The elementary school districts are receiving $1,416,555 based on 17,866 average daily attendance and a statewide average support of $80 plus per pupil. Throughout California, this year the elementary and high school districts are receiving $97,875,566 from the state treasury. Of this $29,793,514 is for high schools based on 822,907 average daily attendance. For 1947-48 and thereafter, the amendment to the state constitution adopted on November provides that the state average support be $120 per pupil with $90 per pupil and $2,400 per year guaranteed to every district. Beyond these terms, decision on final apportionment of the fund made up of $120 per pupil in attendance throughout the public school districts in the state will be made by the coming legislative session. The prevailing rates so determined are as follows: HOLIDAYS That the following days are recognised as holidays; Every Sunday in the year, except as otherwise provided herein, New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of the above holidays should fall on Sunday, the Monday following shall be considered a legal holiday. Work on such day shall be paid for at the Sunday and holiday overtime rate of the craft involved. No work shall be required on Labor Day except in case of extreme urgency when life or property is in imminent danger. UNIFORM OVERTIME RATES Where a single shift is worked, eight hours of continuous employment, except for lunch periods, shall constitute a day's work beginning on Monday and through Friday of each week. Where work is required in excess of eight hours on any one day or during the interval from 5:00 P.M., Friday, to 7:00 A.M., Monday, or on holidays, such work shall be paid for at one and one-half times the basic rate of wages. WAGE SCALE The following per diem wage rates shall apply to the following classifications on all work covered by the terms of this agreement: Foreman Roofer $15.60 Journeyman Roofer 14.00 Apprentice Roofer 10.00 It shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the specified rates in the execution of said contract. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty percent of the contract price, and a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to fifty percent of the contract price, said bonds to be secured from a surety company satisfactory to the Board of Supervisors of Orange County. LUTES Passes Wednesday Death came to Mrs. Luvina Jane Lutes on Wednesday afternoon of last week after an extended illness. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elsie E. Rymer of 607 West Broadway, Anaheim, where she had lived for the past two years. Born in West Virginia 83 years ago, she had lived in California for 25 years. She was a member of White Temple Methodist church. Left to mourn her passing are one son, Russell R. Lutes of Santa Ana; one daughter, Mrs. Elsie E. Rymer of Anaheim; two brothers, Wiley Taylor of West Virginia and J. L. Taylor of Oceanside; two sisters, Mrs. Meta Hoy of Ohio and Mrs. Orpha Campbell of West Virginia; two granddaughters, Mrs. Halstead McCormac of Alhambra and Mrs. Clinton Flynn of Anaheim; one grandson, Harold R. Lutes of Alhambra and four great grandchildren. Funeral rites were conducted from the Hilgenfeld chapel last Friday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Hayden S. Sears, pastor of White Temple Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the family plot in Fairhaven cemetery. Fires in the U.S. annually. Gindes of Los Angeles, president of the National Psychiatric association, at the bi-monthly meeting of the Orange county unit of the association last Thursday, December 12. Among those from Anaheim who attended the meeting were Dr. Henry Vogt and Dr. Walter Revell. The meeting took place at the office of Dr. Beatrice Sessions, 220 West Amerige street, Fullerton.
