Xmas Programs At White Temple A full day of special Christmas services and programs is planned at White Temple Methodist church next Sunday, according to Rev. Hayden Swift Sears, pastor. Opening service will be church school for all ages at 9:30 o'clock. Regular morning worship will feature special yule music with Mrs. Virginia Burk, organist, interpreting the prelude with a medley of Christmas carols. Congregational singing will cover the traditional carols. The anthem by the White Temple choir, directed by George W. Burt, will include two numbers from Handel's "The Messiah." "Glory to God," and "The Hallelujah Chorus." Soloist of the morning will be D. Lyman Harpster, tenor, who will sing "The Birthday of a King" by Neidlinger. Rev. Sear's sermon topic will be "Making Bethlehem Out of Bedlam." That afternoon at 3 o'clock, there will be a series of the church Sacraments, including both infant and adult baptisms and the reception of new members. The temple choir of more than 30 voices under the direction of Burt, will be featured in Handel's "The Messiah," in a candlelight vesper hour service at 4 o'clock. direction of Mrs. Gladys Roehm, superintendent, will stage an original play, written and directed by Mrs. Roehm; entitled "A Song is Born." The intermediate department with Mrs. Eleanor Ashleigh, superintendent, in charge, will present "Christmas Carols and Their Backgrounds." The evening activities will close with a church treat for the smaller children. Xmas Programs At St. Michael's The Young People of St. Michael's Episcopal choir will sing Christmas carols at Orange county hospital next Sunday evening, under the guidance of Mrs. R. W. Balch. The carolers will meet at the home of Miss Margaret Garret at 606 South Clementine street at 6 o'clock. Accompanying violinist will be Ernest Zitzmann. Actively participating in the Christmas musical program of Anaheim, the junior choir members of St. Michael's church will sing carols from the balcony of J. C. Penney company store between 4 and 5 o'clock Friday afternoon, under the baton of Mrs. Juanita Ross. Saturday night the group will join carolers of the Wesley Methodist church at St. Michael's and cover the vicinity of the northern part of the city from 7 to 9 o'clock. Since that time "The Messiah" has been given both through instrumental and choral interpretations, down through the centuries, and stands today as an integral part of Christmas observances in the music world.
