Law Providing For Amputees' Autos Told By Knowland Announcing that he would seek an early change in the law providing automobiles for World War II amputees, U. S. Senator William F. Knowland declared that the present law discriminates against California and other west coast amputees. Defects in the existing law were brought to Senator Knowland's attention recently when he visited disabled veterans at the Birmingham General hospital, located near Van Nuys. The regulation falls to take into consideration freight rates for shipping cars to the west coast. It fixes $1600 as the ceiling for the cars, which the veterans can purchase with Veterans' administration funds, and also specifies that a veteran cannot put up any of his own money, even if the cost of the car exceeds $1600. Therefore, the southern Californian can buy only low or medium-priced cars, not well-suited, in many instances, to his needs as a higher priced hydraulic automobile which has no clutch. The clutchless cars, easiest for the amputees to operate, costs $1597 in the east without accessories. By adding a $172 freight charge for southern California delivery it is outside the price ceiling allowed by the present law. Senator Knowland said he would have his Washington office contact the companies making clutchless cars and try to work out "a stop-gap" arrangement to provide temporary relief for veterans seeking the more expensive cars. He also announced that he would introduce an amendment... BEEN announced by Roy E. Johnson, California Superintendent of public instruction, for the ending June 30, 1947. Fullerton Union high school Fullerton Junior college the enactment of funds is as follows: school agriculture, $2,237.36; school trades and industries, $46, and junior college trades industries, $2,836.66. The total amount of $5,169.48, state is contributing $2,534.30 to the federal government $2,-88. Kaked Beans or Potato Salad Largest commodity in most farmers' showcases here now is kaked beans, interspersed by occasional items of fresh parsley or a lone onion chop or two, mute eviction of the dwindling wholesale supply and consequent layoff of packing house workers. Groaning are restaurant own-industry spokesmen are training the situation by saying that stockmen are holding up for fattehng, hoping for permanent suspension of OPA regulations. Packers name the temporary tension of OPA as the focal point, stating that during OPA days, ranchers took advantage of the free market to sell anything of all ages and sizes, available" to slaughter houses, by leaving bare ranges. However the cause, Anaheim become predominantly vegetarian along with other cities in nation. Yes, there is little here, but plenty of "beef." Washington wrote about 20,000 cars, mostly in his own hand. Bldder upon the terms and conditions hereinafter mentioned, and sub- to confirmation by the Superior Court of the State of California in favor of the County of Orange, on or before the 18th day of October, 1946, the right, title, interest and eschel of the said Susan Effle Slusser, known as S. Effle Slusser, Dead at the time of her death, and night, title, and interest that the estate has, by operation of law, otherwise acquired, other than or addition to that of said deceased, the time of her death, of, In and certain real property more regularly described as follows: All that certain real property exists in the County of Orange, state of California, described as: all of Lot Four (4) and the sixth 7.6 feet of the East 64.81 ft of Lot Six (6), in Block "D" "Bundy's Addition to Tustin, California," as shown on a Map ordered in Book 16, Page 30 of Excellent Records of Los Angeles County, California. He also announced that he would introduce an amendment next January wiping out the discriminatory flaw in the law, if elected November 5.
