CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
"God the Only Cause and Creator" will be the subject of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. The Golden Text is from Jeremiah: "The Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: . . . He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion."
An account from The Acts relates that "Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer." And a man, lame from birth, "whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple ... seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. . . Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk . . . And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God."
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes, "Mind is the natural stimulus of the body, but erroneous belief, taken at its best, is not promotive of health or happiness. Tell the sick that they can meet disease fearlessly, if they only realize that divine Lord gives them all power over every physical action and condition."

directors insisted that "there is no room in the church for politics, and in a democratic system of government there is no room in politics for the church. There is, however, always room in politics for the moral sense of religion."
Applying that statement with equal force to national and international affairs, the directors added: "It makes little difference whether it be a conflict between political ideologies and religious dogmas or an open warfare between armed forces; the results are always stultifying.
"If those who are today engaged in the grave task of building a world government for the purpose of establishing permanent and universal peace on earth, fail to turn to God for guidance and fail to make spiritual integrity the very foundational stone in their structures, they will have labored in vain."
Other high lights of the annual gathering were the announcements that all major Christian Science periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor, attained new high circulation peaks in the last year, that the volume of Monitor advertising established a new high record of some 20,000 regular contributors, and that religious contacts have been rapidly renewed with many foreign lands since the end of the war.
Modern new presses, introducing four-color advertising and four-color feature material, will be installed as part of the equipment of the Monitor, possibly this fall, it was reported by the trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society.

“Y” Fund Drive Plans For New Home Underway
Groundwork plans for the Anaheim YMCA fund-raising campaign, which will finance a new, spacious headquarters building, got well under way as Robert Gosson of Long Beach, representative of the YMCA National Finance Bureau, addressed committee members during a special board meeting at Mother’s Kitchen last Monday noon.

Committee representatives present were Mrs. Arthur Roquet, new president-elect of the YMCA board, and Mrs. Laura Payne, vice-president.

23rd Ensemble Recital Given By Mrs. Buttree
An expectant hush prevailed as tableau by tableau talented young students from the Margaret Buttreet studio presented the Twenty-third Annual Ensemble recital last Monday evening at 7:45 o'clock at the Fremont junior high school auditorium before an appreciative audience of more than 500 persons.
Appropriate background for the spring concert was the tall basket filled with stocks and gladiolis gracing the stage. A huge basket of red roses and white gladioli was presented to the group of artists at the conclusion of the program by Mrs. Buttreet amidst applause from the audience.
Setting the theme for the recital, Engleman's "In Jolly Mood" was interpreted by Carlene Korn, Joanne Kellogg, Elaine Stankey, Gretchen Glover, Ruth Keyes and Ellen Nelson.
In vivid contrast, Marilyn Schimming presented "Fantasia in D Minor" by Mozart, followed by Grieg's "Norwegian Dance," played by Genevieve Bradley and Anna Lou Daly.

"Invitation to the Dance" by Von Weber was presented by Judy Crankshaw, Jewel Walker, Betty Lou Allec, Joan Spencer, Mary Ann Morrison and Donna Stabert. In striking change of mood Dan Demaree played the beloved "Liebestraum" by Liszt.
Stirring Spanish air, "Malaguena" by Leucona was presented by Barbara Robbins and Bob Lyons, followed by Dett's highly rhymic description of a negro dance, "Juba Dance," played by Marilyn Daigle, Barbara Cash; Ruth Martens and Ernestine Smith.
Friml-Coburn's popular "Donkey Serenade" was given by Shirley Beneke and Mary Middleton.

Children's Shop, Jr. Rendezvous To New Location
A specialty shop for the older girls of Anaheim and Orange county is in the offing, according to Mrs. James Kilduff, owner of The Children's Shop, 232 West Center street, who announced on Wednesday that the children's department of the present store and a new junior department for older girls, will soon be located in the beautiful new Krogen-Hammond building at 721 North Los Angeles street.
A shop designed for the older girls, featuring all the desired items of the young miss' wardrobe will be a specialty in the "Junior Rendezvous," the name of the new shop. Mrs. Kilduff is installing fixtures and other features catering to the older girls in a store just for them. The children's shop will be housed in the same building, occupying the back half of the location and will be separated from the Rendezvous by a partition. This section of the new store will carry all items for babies and smaller children.
The Junior Rendezvous is a new innovation for the young ladies of Anaheim, catering to their needs and wishes.
The boys' department will remain at the West Center location and will be known as "Terry's" and will carry a complete line of apparel for boys and students.
