New Location Plans Approved By YMCA Board The unanimous agreement of the YMCA board members in favor of proceeding with the present campaign to raise funds for an extensive building program to create adequate facilities for the growing organization, was the main point of business at the last meeting, May 14, at the local headquarters, 407 South Philadelphia street, with M. A. Gauer, chairman, presiding. Paul Bakenhus and Warren Ashleigh were appointed as delegates to select a site to be presented for group approval at the board meeting next Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock. Plans have been formulated for the construction of a large modern building designed for a varied and extensive "Y" program for Anaheim. Oscar Renner and Mr. Gauer were chosen to investigate the obtaining of the new site and Frank Kellogg was delegated to dispose of the present site. Gra-Y Friendly activities were reported upon by Ted Payne who announced the pow-wow plans, an event held last Friday and Saturday at Irvine park. The outdoor camping trip was complete with games, plenty of food and unique campfire programs. Wilbert Bonney, chairman of the Anaheim Junior Hi-Y, reviewed past club events and again announced the southern California round-up to be staged in Fullerton next Saturday. More than 500 boys are expected to attend from throughout the southland. Swimming in the Fullerton and Anaheim pools and competitive sports will be featured on the all-day program among other attractions. He also announced that the "brotherhood" contest was now well underway. Winner will be chosen as the one tion of peoples from other areas excelling in picture identification from pictures and from international motion picture studios. A loving cup will be awarded to the winner by George Baller who is also presenting another cup to the group boasting the highest percentage of membership enrolled at Oceola this summer. Improvements at Camp Oceola described by Bonney and Payne revealed that new spring cottages have been installed in all the cabins, and that repairs have included the construction of improved plumbing facilities and the new shingling of camp building roofs. Activities of the seven boys and two girls' Mexican youth clubs were announced in a report given by Luis Sandoval. Related the plans for sending delegates to the Mexican-American Movement youth convention which took place last Saturday and Sunday at Pacific Palisades. Counselors who have signed for Camp Oceola to date are Re-Howard Congdon, Paul Demarck, Jack Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Tucker Bose, Walter Schmitt, Robert Gregg, Charles Frank, John Knutzen, Ted Payne, M. A. Gauer and Wilbert Bonney. Immediate registration of all those interested in attending was urged by the group. The three camping periods will be from June 28 to July 5; July 5 to July 22, and July 29 to August 5. "The spirit was good, the force excellent and the talks very fine." TIPTON More Fair-Show Plans Revealed By League Outstanding among county events will be Orange County's Fair and Horse show, scheduled for Santa Ana Municipal Bowl June 20, 21, 22 and 23. It will be the most elaborate, the largest and most successful in the history of the affair announced leaders of the Assistance League of Orange county, sponsor of the fair, which is designed to raise funds for the establishment of a county-wide cancer clinic. More than twice the space is available for exhibitors than has been in previous years, due to the use of Army Air Force buildings at the West Eighth street site of the Western Flying Training Command headquarters. In addition, tents will be erected for other exhibitors and a large outdoor area also incorporated. Already the best line-up of entries since the fair's origination has been arranged for the horse show which is slated for Friday evening, June 20, Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon. Entries are expected from all over California and others are anticipated from the eastern states, members of the show committee stated. One of the centers of the show this year will be the former AAF headquarters building, a two-story structure with scores of exhibit rooms. Spaces for the displays are going rapidly. Agricultural and horticultural exhibits will be featured in the building, with the county's vast production displayed in every form for the benefit of visitors. Various units of the Grange, the Farm Bureau, Junior Farm Bureau and other organizations will also present exhibits. Another feature will be a hobby sheep; chickens and rabbits, have been assured for the junior fair division. For the first time, the event will be thrown open to commercial exhibits, where manufacturers may show their equipment to the visitors. This will not only include farm machinery, but also boats, airplanes and other recreational merchandise; fair officials announced. Another building, the former Officer's club, will house a record-breaking flower show, which is being sponsored by the Orange Huntington Beach and Newport Harbor auxiliaries of the Orange County Assistance League. More than 700 county women are already making plans to enter their floral arrangements, it was revealed. Also tentatively scheduled is a vast parade of the county's finest riding horses.
