Anaheim Farm Leader Elected As Vice-President of Associated Farmer
Continuation of the work of the California farm production council for 1944 was urged by the Associated Farmers of California in a resolution requesting Governor Warren to call a special session of the legislature for an appropriation of sufficient funds to provide farm labor, housing and equipment to harvest next year's crops.
At their annual board of director's meeting held last Thursday, Dec. 2, in San Francisco, the Associated Farmers of California, representing 40,000 farm families of the state, pointed out that the Farm Production Council, in cooperation with the extension service, had aided in harvesting all California crops, which represented 20 per cent of all farm products grown in the U.S.
The Agricultural extension service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture was commended for the state-wide farm group for their work, which 'resulted in the finest job of placement of workers ever accomplished in California."
R. E. Badger, Rancho Santa Orange grower, was elected president of the state organization in 1944, while R. F. Schmeiser Fresno was named northern vice-president; E. P. Backs of Anah Southern vice-president; Berri Groverman of Petaluma, secretary; H. L. Strobel of Salt treasurer; and Grover Shannon Yuba City and F. C. Green Carpenteria were named executive committeemen at large. Her successes E. Stanton Dale Woodland as president of the group.

Free the Seas
Before we win the final battle with Hitler's Nazis all navy men are agreed we must win the battle of the Atlantic; that is to free the sea lanes of the German U-boats.
A year ago we were building 54 cruisers and nearly 200 destroyers or just about enough for a two ocean navy.
Now we have come to realize that this war is to the finish, "winner take all," and our Government is building a five ocean navy.

Thousands of them will be traveling during CHRISTMAS-NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS
Many of our men and women in the service will be traveling on a furlough trip during the holiday season. They deserve their well-earned trips, and for many it may be their last furlough for an indefinite period of time.
POSTPONE YOUR TRIP during the holiday period
You can adjust your going and coming with more latitude than our men and women in service. Why not defer your trip away from the holidays? Show them your cooperation.
We have only limited equipment available for nonessential wartime travel. We are giving preference to Uncle Sam and you can help our boys and girls by at least enabling us to take care of them.

When you save GAS for heating
...you conserve FUEL for the Battle of the Pacific
GOING OUT
FOR THE DAY?
GOING OUT FOR THE DAY?
At your finger-tips...easily controlled gas heating can be tailored exactly for healthful warmth without waste.
Don't waste heat...turn it off before you leave and help save precious war fuel...GAS
It takes a tremendous amount of gas to keep Southern California's homes warm these winter days. Yet gas must be conserved for the war. That's why the Government is asking you to use only as much as you actually need.
Keep your house warm enough to be comfortable while you're there, of course, but turn off the gas when you leave! Save in other ways, too...avoid over-heating...shut the doors as well as registers of unused rooms...close outside doors promptly.
Perhaps you think that the amount of fuel you save will be too "small" to count. Then multiply it by similar savings in over 1,000,000 other patriotic homes and you have a worthwhile total.
So do your share! It's really easy! Just tailor your temperature to your household needs with the finger-tip control feature of modern gas heating.
